How to change personal name not business name?

I need help with this too, but the only option I can find under "Personal Information" is to change my business name. I have a typo and would like to correct It without having to start over with my online shop, etc.

Unfortunately you aren’t able to edit the legal name you used to activate your Square account. If you'd like to fix a typo with your activation name, you'll need to create a new Square account.

 

Fortunately the activation name is not public facing in any way.

Its a joke that you can't change it, but literally you can't. You are forced to give up years of sales data, inventory data, customer data, and much more to create a whole new Square account with the right name! Yeah, I just decided to not use the Square Card instead until they fix this issue.

Well we are in to 2021, and this is very upsetting. I use Square appointments, and it looks like Square puts my dead name throughout more of the app and shoving it in my face, including under "Staff Members" when creating a new appointment for a client. Creating a new account isn't an option due to having valuable customer, and sales data in Square. So far, no update on this? This is very infuriating, and Square is literally the only thing left where I can't change the name on the account. 

This drives me nuts also!  Every other financial institution did it with no problem so why can’t square??

anyway I recently received a request from square to do a survey and this time I made sure to do it AND made sure to repeatedly let them now how disappointed I am with the name change issue. So if you can also do a survey please tell them how you feel too and hopefully they will join the rest of the world and fix this issue!!

Every time I have filled out a survey with Square recently, I have let them know they need to fix name changes. It is exceedingly ridiculous that they haven't fixed this yet.

There are several instances where an Account Owner's name is visible to the customers, so Square folks answering these threads should stop using that canned answer.

This is comparable to my bank telling me I can't update my legal name without withdrawing all my funds, closing all my accounts, selling all my securities, and then opening new accounts with them.

My activation name seems to be appearing in text reminders. At least that is what is showing on my end in messages. It is my maiden name and my clients don't know who that is. How do I change that?

I agree! Would love a solution for this.

Not yet. They just merge new posts/queries like this with old threads so the issue disappears into one or two threads. Huge amount of fail on the part of Square, as every promise to address this is seemingly hollow.
