I have one product with 2 different prices , one wholesale and one retail but i am pulling both from the same inventory.
if for example 10 are pulled from wholesale it doesn't adjust the overall inventory, is this possible?

Re: inventory

Hey @groovy, welcome to the seller community! 👋🏻

Thanks for bringing this up. If I'm understanding your inventory needs correctly, it sounds like you would be able to use the price points feature. For example, if you were to set up different price points for each item labeled as "Retail" and "Wholesale", your inventory would decrease appropriately. Learn more about how to set this up in this article: Item Variants or Price Points.

We've also partnered with a handful of inventory management services who may be able to offer a more customized solution. For more info head over to your App Marketplace > Items & Inventory.

Hope this helps get you where you need to be. If you have any other questions or concerns, please don't hesitate to let us know. In addition, if any other Square sellers who sell products at variable prices have any pro tips to share on this topic—feel free to chime in!

I have a quilt shop, so found that I need to set up some of my items as retail and the same item at cost.  I have two variants with one titled Retail and one titled Cost.  The SKU for the Retail one is the main SKU which includes two letters that signify the Vendor.  The cost SKU is the same except I left off the two letters at the beginning to differentiate the two.  When I build a kit (which is my main form of business), I create an invoice using the Cost variant (you select this for each item).  Then I discount each item at 100% to remove them from inventory.  The only issue is I need to leave $1.00 in there for processing through Square.  I don't know if this makes sense.  Maybe the real help team can chime in.  Make sure to turn on tracking for each variant.  I messed that up the first time.

If we use the coupon option for wholesale purchases how do we charge sales tax for retail customers and not charge for wholesale customers?

@omorris Welcome to the Seller Community!! You will need to manually add or remove the sales tax from your cart before checkout. If you have more retail sales than wholesale sales, I would have tax be applied to everything, but then remove the tax from your wholesale customers.

To remove the sales tax, view the items in your cart, tap on the tax, and toggle it off. This is only for the Point of Sale app, but let me know fi you were wanting it for another feature we offer.

Thank you for the quick reply! I do not use the Point of Sale anymore. Instead, I only use the website for my customers to purchase items. I offer retail and wholesale, and for my wholesale customers I plan to give each their own discount (wholesale) code. However, I am having the tax problem. I need to charge my retail customers tax and it needs to be removed for wholesale. Is there anyway I could toggle the tax off with the discount codes? Therefore, when wholesale customers use their discount code the price will be decreased and the tax will be removed.

@omorris That makes sense. That is currently a feature request with us, but you may want to consider creating a second, password protected page that your wholesale customers can visit. Keeping that in mind, you will need to create two separate items for each page - one with tax and one without. I am not sure how detailed your inventory management needs to be, but if these products are not inventory oriented, that may be a good solution.

Thank you for the help! My products are definitely inventory oriented. That is one of the main reasons I created the square website, to help with my inventory. I hope this feature will get pushed through. I know it would help me along with other retail/wholesale square sellers to be able to toggle off tax for wholesale customers.

I am having the same problem... any solutions?

This is still an issue without an answer. I need item-specific wholesale and retail prices. Right now I have them listed as separate items with categories for Retail and Wholesale, so that I can ring up only retail items if I'm at an event where I'm selling retail, or wholesale if I'm at a trade show. I want this option to reduce mistakes in ringing them up. I don't use Square for inventory, but that would also be an issue with my approach.

I currently have a wholesale site through Square, and I would like to essentially duplicate it, but on a retail level.  Is there a way to have a password protected wholesale side to the site, while having a visible retail side as well? And can I somehow duplicate the wholesale site for the retail site, but just change prices?  What's the easiest way to do this?
