Custom booking questions and fields?

I'm a bit surprised this doesn't seem to be possible. I just started a small tutoring/academic coaching business and I need to know whether the students are over 18 or not. Ultimately, it's a bit of an honor system thing, but not being able to ask for a parent's name is going to cause problems over the long term for things like processing credit cards and just knowing if the person that I'm scheduling is even legally allowed to enter into a contract or use a credit card.

I went to check on this and the ability to add customized fields to the booking flow is not available at this time. I can see how this feature would streamline the check-in process for a wide variety of sellers. For now, you may need to verify additional details outside of the app.

Custom booking questions or fields when your customers book appointments is definitely one of the more popular feature requests we've seen. 

 

Our Product Team is currently tracking this, and your personal use case for age limits is one that I haven't seen before, so thanks for sharing your feedback! Hopefully our Product Team can come up with a solution for this in the near future. 

 

Currently, the best workaround to collect additional information is to request that it be provided in the appointment notes when they book. Here's a screenshot from the customer booking side for reference: 

 

 

You can add instructions to indicate if they're 18+, and if not, to provide their parents name in the Service Description field so your clients can see it when they book. Here's another screenshot of the Service Description section: 

 

 

Hopefully one of your fellow sellers can chime in with a workaround that they currently use for their business.

I know it's pretty generic, but there currently isn’t a way to add custom fields to your online booking site, but this is a popular feature request the Appointments team is tracking.

 

What would be the reasoning behind changing the "How do we say hello?" section? Our Product Team would love to hear the feedback.

Wow, been 4 years since this Feature Request was brought up. As a Dev myself i'm aware a feature like this will take some development resources and time

 

But 4 years? It's very apparent that this is very much a low priority feature for the dev team.

 

I would really love to be able to ask my customers about their car model/make in a required customized field, not in a optional box

I too need this feature. I run a detailing business and getting as much information about their vehicle makes life easier for both me and the customer. It helps to determine and provide an accurate estimate.

you have contracts set up for covid already, so why can't you add forms and waivers? i agree, 4 years is too long. you'd have so much more users/business if this was a feature. i left square because of that and was thinking about coming back only when this feature is in place.

I would absolutely love this feature, because I need it. I've been using Jotforms for now but have to transfer everything over. 

I also need this - with clients booking appointments across the US, I need a way to know what timezone they are in!

Yeah I just want to throw in that I'm still waiting for this feature. At this point I'm ready to switch to an entirely different POS just because of this. Square would literally have everything I need if they would include customs boxes for customers to put in certain data. Where are you square? A lot of other calendar scheduling apps give you this feature. Seems to me like it's kind of standard. Obviously when somebody's booking an appointment you might need to ask them certain questions that pertain to that appointment. Very critical feature in my opinion

Really, Square has been "tracking" this request for YEARS.  What can be the reason this is not available? I'd like to hear an explanation.  

This is crazy!!! How is this not fixed yet. Decided to revisit this after 4years... No custom fields how can someone schedule me to come to their house? I need to be able to collect their address and also have multiple choice questions answered about what issue they are having.  To bad thought we could use square for our biz but guess not.
