Custom booking questions and fields?

Custom booking questions and fields?

I'm a bit surprised this doesn't seem to be possible. I just started a small tutoring/academic coaching business and I need to know whether the students are over 18 or not. Ultimately, it's a bit of an honor system thing, but not being able to ask for a parent's name is going to cause problems over the long term for things like processing credit cards and just knowing if the person that I'm scheduling is even legally allowed to enter into a contract or use a credit card.

Re: How to add required custom fields for appointments?

Hey @TrinityTreasure, welcome to the seller community and thanks for bringing this up.

I went to check on this and the ability to add customized fields to the booking flow is not available at this time. I can see how this feature would streamline the check-in process for a wide variety of sellers. For now, you may need to verify additional details outside of the app.

We'll circle back with any other developments or solutions as they become available. Please let us know if you have any other questions in the meantime!

Re: Custom booking questions?

Hi @Thomas2

Welcome to the Seller Community!

Custom booking questions or fields when your customers book appointments is definitely one of the more popular feature requests we've seen.

Our Product Team is currently tracking this, and your personal use case for age limits is one that I haven't seen before, so thanks for sharing your feedback! Hopefully our Product Team can come up with a solution for this in the near future.

Currently, the best workaround to collect additional information is to request that it be provided in the appointment notes when they book. Here's a screenshot from the customer booking side for reference:

You can add instructions to indicate if they're 18+, and if not, to provide their parents name in the Service Description field so your clients can see it when they book. Here's another screenshot of the Service Description section:

Hopefully one of your fellow sellers can chime in with a workaround that they currently use for their business.

Let me know if you have any other questions 👍🏼

Re: Customize Appointments form

Hi there, and welcome to the Seller Community!

I know it's pretty generic, but there currently isn’t a way to add custom fields to your online booking site, but this is a popular feature request the Appointments team is tracking.

What would be the reasoning behind changing the "How do we say hello?" section? Our Product Team would love to hear the feedback.

Thank you all for sharing your thoughts on this.

I've moved this thread and combined it with an existing thread that our Appointments team is aware of and actively tracking.

There's nothing new to report in regards to custom booking information, but I agree that it would be a huge help for sellers with specific business needs and information requirements for their services.

If anything changes with this, I'll post an update for everyone. Hopefully this gains some momentum and gets reprioritized in the near future.

Hello- It is March 2018.  I still don't see this feature.

I'm a longtime Square Register user and I am now using Square Space for my website instead of Therapysites.

I just moved from Yellow Schedule but I'm concerned that so much is missing to customize the appointments app.  This is a loss for my patients so I'm having to stay with a backup YS appointments app until I can get this straightened out.

For the life of me, I cannot see justification for the $30 per month when this is in its infancy.  At least in Yellow Schedule, patients could confirm their attendance at their appointment.  Now people, who I don't know and can't collect information about, are making appointments and I have no idea if they will show up.

I have already put in a request for a refund so that I can move over to Acuity but I have not heard back yet.  Honestly, my hope was that Square was going to surprise me with the updates to customization but I see nothing yet and these dates on these posts are from last year.

I really wanted to do it all with you.  I'm more sad than frustrated.

Thanks for sharing your feedback @s4Bb, I'm sorry to hear that Square Appointments doesn't suit the needs of your business yet.

I just wanted to confirm that anyone who books an appointment with you via Square is required to enter their first and last name, email address and phone number.

You also have the option to accept or decline appointments. To enable this setting head to the Appointments section of your Dashbaord, click Settings and look for the Reservation Guarantee. That setting might give you more control over who is booking time with you.

If you've canceled your subscription we'll be sorry to see you go! Thanks again for letting us know about your experience and what didn't work for you. This will help our team to improve Appointments.

Hi Helen,

I just wanted to say that I was beyond excited to receive the notice that Square appointments is now free.  Thank you for listening to the little people like me who love Square and use all the products but were getting priced out of Appointments.

My patients have continued to use Square online booking while I've been setting up Acuity but I may not need to go to Acuity anymore!  I am going to try and attend the Q&A on 4/11 to ask about features specific to my business (e.g., since appointments requires first and last name, patient identity is showing up on my calendar. Not good for a therapy practice.)

Anyway, passing along my gratitude to you and your team : )

Can you add a cart style number box in front of each service or item so that the client can book multiples of the same service in one appointment?  Example, a mother with 2 or more kids could put 3 in the box next to Kids Haircut to book 3 cuts in one appointment, instead of having to make 3 separate appointments.

Thanks for your post @mrcombandshears! I will surface this to the Appointments team, I can see how useful it would be for parents booking services for their children! If we have any updates on this feature we'll post in this thread to let you konw. Thanks again!

Additionally, we would like to have customers "upload" the documents that are required for the appointment.  Any ideas?

This post was merged over from a thread titled: We use SquareUP as an appointment system only but need to customize certain "appointment" fields

Hi @Yaaawhojipsy

I've moved your post over to this existing thread since our Appointments team has eyes on it and collect feedback from the thread directly.

Unfortunately there hasn't been any new information in regards to customizing the Appointments booking fields, but we'll continue to advocate for this, as it's pretty popular among Appointments sellers.

As far as uploading documents, that's not an available feature at this time either, but it's a great idea! I can see how multiple businesses and sellers could benefit from this. That might be the first time I've come across this type of request for Appointments specifically, so I'll definitely let our Appointments team know it's something you'd like to see in the future.

Keep an eye out for updates, and if anything new comes we'll chime back in on this thread.

EJ, thank you so very much.  Will I get a notice everytime someone comments or should I just check daily for comments?
