Feature Request: Create packages including multiple services via Square Appointments

The title of this post has been edited from the original: How to schedule multi packs with Square Appointments?

Hoping to find some help here.  We offer a service that clients can pay for and book appointments online. Great. The problem is that there are discounted packages if multiple treatments are purchased at one time, if this option is chosen, the client is only able to schedule one appointment as opposed to multiple separate appointments for each of the treatments they purchase.  Is there a way to make this work? Thanks in advance.

Re: Create Recurring Invoices in the Square App

Hello @coriumesthetics!

As a workaround you could use recurrning invoices with Square Appointments for a package, and view the number of invoices remaining in the series. However, you can't images to a recurring invoice series, I'm sorry!

Another workaround is to create a single service for package deals you offer but you'd need to track the number of sessions completed manually. You could ask customers to contact you directly for packages, and then schedule each session in the package deal as a separate appointment to ensure clients are charged for each session.

I'm adding your post to this thread where other sellers are interested in using Appointments to create and manage packages. We'll update the status to give you a heads up about any developments on this feature request.

As for your question about marketing by text - you might like to subscribe to this separate thread for updates!

Re: How to schedule multi packs in appointments

Yep! While we don't have a way to automatically apply discounts when customers book more than one service, you can create bundles as individual services. For example if you are a personal trainer, you can list 5 sessions at the discounted price as one appointment.

When your customer comes in for their first appointment, you then can manually book their next, or all upcoming, appointments through your Appointments Dashboard. In your client information section of Dashboard you have the ability to add notes and view past appointments so you can keep track of their remaining appointments even if the schedule one at a time!

i have a  series of 4 events on 4 separate dates that are sold as a one price package.   what is the best way to sell this and set it up in square,

Really looking for ability to track packages when sell a 10 pack to client, really hard to reconcile and have to spend a lot of time manually doing, and at risk of missing sessions and not charging. Quite surprised this doesn't exist? Any update since May?

No update yet but I'll add your post as an up-vote on the back end. We'll make an announcement here when we learn something new. @TopLevelPI

I wanted to express our disappointment with this missing feature as well. We have several packages put together for our spa and without the ability to sell packages and then redeem the services...it is getting very difficult.

and I wouldn't call the solutions mentioned a "Workaround." Writing their name on a piece of paper and crossing off services manually would be easier than the workarounds provided, but I wouldn't call that a workaround either.

To provide an update, I've switched to gettimely for customer and appointment/ package  management.  It works exactly as expected.

Gettimely integrates with square as a payment method, so works well to make square a dumb (and replaceable) payment terminal only.

The trick to making it work with accounting software integration is to do the sync from square, and NOT gettimely (as the integration does not factor square fees). This does mean that all payments need to be sent via square including cash, effectively making square the cash drawer.

In future I'll consider swapping square for a standard bank POS trrminal given the inline fee complexity and no longer being able to use any value add services

This workaround is helpful, except that my packages offer a discount - the more you buy the bigger the discount. So selling my clients' packages as a gift card and then having them use the gift card to book appointments doesn't work in my case, because one hour of service for a client who prepaid ten hours costs less than one hour of service for a client who prepaid four hours and yet different still for a client who didn't prepay at all. Thoughts on that?

Ah I see. Definitely a tricky situation. I can't think of any other workarounds that will accomplish what you're looking to do.

Hopefully we have good news to share on package/session tracking down the line. Make sure you subscribe to this thread for the latest 🙂

Adding my name to the list of people interested in the package feature. I am a massage therapist and esthetician, I want to switch to square but this is a major holdup for me. Currently the majority of my income is from clients buying packages.

We also offer discounts if people buy multiple appointments in advance, it's a very common thing. The fact that this thread started in 2018 makes me rather pessimistic for these "future updates".
