Is there a way to create Appointment categories?

Is there a way to create Appointment categories?

Hey there, love the option to categorize services but can't seem to find a way to make the category groups visible to our customers booking online. 
We have a wide range of services and it just gives them one huge list to scroll through. We can edit the order of this list but not have categories visible. 
Currently using Timely as our appointment system solely for this reason - Please let me know if there's a way of using categories for our clients to view/choose from when booking themselves! 😁
Would really like to just be using square! Everything else is amazing

Hi, I found a way around this problem as it was driving me crazy and I was about to change online systems for this reason. My booking system looked a mess for clients booking in.

I created options under most appointments, only problem is they can only select one option. So for example I couldn’t have waxing as a main name and all the different waxing option under the main title because most people book more than one waxing treatment in one appointment. This will make more sense when you see how I’ve done it…

Appointment categories is something we'll hopefully see in the future - while I'm not able to share projected timelines for feature requests, I'll tag everyone who has posted in this thread once we do have more news to share.

 

Our Appointments team are aware of the demand for categories and we share the feedback we see on Seller Community. As you've noted this one has been a popular feature request for Square Appointments and sellers have made some strong use cases for it!

Yes, you can rearrange the order of your services as a workaround here - drag and drop the order of your services to rearrange them. Please let us know how you go 🙂

Thanks for that - i really want to give this a go - its just a shame the categories have no booking function yet. It makes it very restrictive dding more services without being able to categories them.

I am aware that I am losing customers regularly because we have so many treatments listed and it is just too difficult and time consuming to book multiple treatments. I am actually embarrassed to be using this feature and will be looking at other companies after reading this thread. It appears that this has been an issue that Square customers have been complaining about for years.

We took a further look into this for you, and it appears that Appointment Categories actually released recently!

You can organise your services into categories and display this on your Appointments online booking site. This will allow customers to navigate their booking selections quickly.

To do so from your online Square Dashboard:
 

  1. Click Appointments > Online Booking > Channels.
  2. Next to Enable online booking, click Manage.
  3. Select Manage service and category order, then toggle on Display categories online. Note: If you have multiple locations, click ••• and select Manage service and category next to the location’s booking site you want to edit.
  4. Drag and drop categories to change the order in which they’re displayed. and services to change the order in which they’re displayed under a category. Note: To edit categories or a service category go to Items > Services.
  5. Click Save.

Note: Toggling on “Display categories online” will immediately display your categories to your customers during online booking. Please ensure your categories are ready to be customer-facing before enabling.
