Hi, I am based in Canada and sell internationally.
I shipped to a customer in France already but the customer had to pay a VAT of 16 euros to receive it. When they paid on my site, NO tax was charged.
Should I be charging them tax at checkout or not at all? If yes, would it be their local tax rate?
Also, is there any way to avoid paying the VAT (ex. for goods under a certain value, if it's a "gift" shipment, etc.) or is it impossible to avoid?
