Feature Request - Ability for Customer to upload images, files to Square Online

Hi there,

I am toying with the idea of building an online store. Bit of background, I own a small gift printing store. In order to take online sales i will need to allow customers to upload their photos when adding an item to the basket.

I can do this via woocommerce or opencart. However id like to keep all my invoices and orders tied in with square in one place.

So my question is, using squares website building platform, can a customer upload a image while adding an item to the cart as well as a text submission for names and dates etc...

Thanks,

Dan

Hey @KristinMac,

Thanks for reaching out and welcome to the community!

While I don't have any updates to share here at the moment, generally the best place to include this information or instructions on how to get files to you would be in the item description - this way the applicable info should be front and centre when the customer places the order.

You can also compliment this with:

I'd generally suggest a combination of approaches, so if a customer misses it somewhere they might see it somewhere else!

Pathetic response as always. "Use instructions to the customer or 3rd party apps". Instead of including a simple coding upgrade to Square's platform.

I made good on my promise and cancelled my Square store.

Unless you are a "take-away" food shop, Square has no interest in assisting you.

Seek out other alternatives and stop expecting Square and Weebly to come to your rescue .

I have written in a few places... in the description and again on the custom box directions..  “for a custom photo to be added, email it to xxx email address. Have no worries, I confirm all details of the order with you before creating your item”. I am still slow so I can easily match up these photos with the order. If things take off I’ll have to convert my website to one that is more sophisticated.

I can't believe this still isn't a feature. It seems like I will have to use Etsy for all of my custom items until Square can finally add this

I would also like to see this feature. We offer individually-wrapped cookies and allow customers to add a custom label to their cart if they want. Right now we have to include a note in the item details that logos should be emailed to us. We still get emails saying something like, "I couldn't find a way to upload a file, so here's our graphic." The item details on the Square Online item pages are often missed by our customers because they are small and at the very bottom. Please allow file uploads, even if only for popular image file extensions.

Thanks for the feedback and use case here @Floydman.

While I don't have news to share on this feature request, I'll tag you if I'm able to in the future and will pass your feedback on to our team.

Yes this would be a great feature to have. I've been stuck for days trying to figure out how to do this as I run a customizing business so this pretty much defeat the purpose of using this for a website

Give up folks. It doesn't seem that Square is at all interested in providing such a simple feature.

I switched to Shopify and whilst it's double the monthly cost, I had a file upload app installed and configured in under 10 minutes.

The platform has thousands of apps and the developers of those apps are far more  responsive and helpful than Square could ever hope to be.

Honestly, I couldn't be happier.

This needs to be added. We do custom cakes / cookies and customers need to be able upload photos/files to assist in creating a design. Generally our customers want a cake that looks like another they have seen so providing a photo here is extremely important. Not having this feature in the form creation makes the whole process cumbersome and unoganised.

This is a MUST.

It has been over a year since this thread was started, When can we expect this?  I will not upgrade my plan until it works for my business.

Or is there a way to open up the coding so we can add it ourselves?
