All Cards declined with magstripe reader

  • Tried several cards. Keep getting "Declined, please use a different card."
  • Using magstrip reader
  • Tried on 2 devices
  • Tried manual card entry. Same error.

The first step here would be ensuring the cards you're attempting to process are accepted by Square.

Once this is confirmed, the next step would be to complete our troubleshooting steps to ensure the issue doesn't lie with the magstripe reader itself. However, given that you're unable to process manually entered cards, this issue may be device or network-related.

Since we are unable to access your Square account information via this platform, we suggest reaching out to our Support Team directly should the above steps not resolve the issue you're seeing.
