How do i set up tap n go on my mobile square reader?

I have a square reader, but the tap n go function doesn’t function as yet. The little blue lights flash to say that it’s on, however, to process a payment i need to open the app and clients need to manually input their credit card data.

 

How do i fix this?

Thanks for getting in touch!

 

Please try running through the following steps and we'll see if we can get you going:

 

1) Forget the reader from anywhere it appears in your Bluetooth settings and also the Square app (via Settings > Hardware > Square Reader)

2) Hold down the button until the lights completely STOP flashing red. This performs a hard reset on the reader.
3) Turn your mobile device off then on.

4) Once you've reset the reader and your mobile device, try connecting the reader again (via the Square POS app and NOT your device Bluetooth settings) then running a $1 test transaction on your own card as per the instructions here.

 

Let me know at which point you're getting stuck and we'll see if we can get things going! If these steps do not work, please let me know:

- The mobile device you're using (make and model)
- The version of the mobile operating system you're using
- The version of the Square app currently installed
