Will there ever be the option of seeing customer info on printed receipts? I saw similar requests around here for this useful & -should be- simple feature but no real answer to it. this just doesn't make any sense, no reason when i do the sale on a customers account with all info including Name-Address-Phone etc. Included, that it shouldn't be printed on the receipt. anyone had same issue here?

Hey @Sam2021👋

This has been frequently requested. I believe this is more of a privacy issue than anything.

If I hear any updates on a feature launch to have more customer information appear on printed receipts, I'll definitely update this thread.

Very inconvenient. The iOS version of the app displays the customer name on the transaction but for my android phone, it does not. I have to reconcile every night my customers seen vs payments and it is much more of an inconvenience because I have to wait to get home to do this vs use the app. It seems like a miss on the app and how do I get this prioritized!? It has been almost a year since I brought this up to customer service without resolution.

@lebodano I'm really sorry to hear the frustration regarding this feature request. I unfortunately do not have any updates to share. I do know that feature requests like this can take a long time to be released as name displays have to get through a lot of privacy regulations.

Although the feature isn’t currently available, I’d be glad to pass this feature request to our product team.

In the meantime, you can see a customer’s name on the bottom-left corner of a payment receipt if this information is made available to Square from their payment card. Receipts can be found in the Transactions tab of your online Square Dashboard.

I've also merged your post with the existing thread so we can keep all of the feedback in one place.

Any updates on when we will be able to make the linked customer details easily and automatically available on a receipt. Given that the client can be tied to the transaction (and this is done automatically when i check out using an appointment) it seems relatively simple for the name (customer) field to be shown on the receipt. Any update would be appreciated as its been over a years since i first discussed this on the community.

No updates at the moment I'm afraid @Lizarbo. I'll be sure to update this thread if I hear of any, however I unfortunately don't have any news regarding this feature request at the moment.

Hi Isabelle,

Just jumping in on this as I have just switched over to square appointments and am loving everything about it except the fact that customer details aren't on receipts.

Is there another workaround where we can easily / automatically send an invoice instead of a receipt?

Thanks for your time

Greta

You can just pick invoice as the method of payment and they get emailed the invoice and pay you later if that works better. Some of my clients like the way that works better. Seems like the invoice is a nicer format and automatically has their name.

Hey @Greta,

Thanks for reaching out!

Within Square's system, a receipt and a tax invoice are the same thing - we also have "Invoices", but this is a seperate form of payment. An Invoice on Square will allow you to email the customer a payment link that they can pay by entering their own card details in. The customer will still be able to receive the standard receipt/tax invoice once a payment has been made via an emailed invoice, which won't include their name.

One thing you could try is turning on Invoices as a payment method within the Square Appointments app by going to Settings > Payment types > turn on Invoices. This means that Invoices will become a payment type in Checkout via the Appointments app. You can then go to the "Invoices" section on the Appointments app and have the customer pay on the spot using the card reader to pay the invoice.

The potential downside to this is:

  • It's not as quick and easy as just processing the payment up front with the card
  • If you're using an online booking website that allows pre-payment, invoices can't be sent for these payments

Hope this helps somewhat in any case, and let me know if you have any questions!

Thanks Lizsarbo.

How do I change the method of payment? Is it a setting or at checkout?

I take on the spot payment so it's still a bit of a hassle, but it might be my only option.
