Feature Request - Item Packages / Bundles / Grouping

Feature Request - Item Packages / Bundles / Grouping

I'd like to suggest a feature of Grouping items together into "Packages" so that when I'm selling a client a standard set of items all i need to do is select the package that applies and then if necessary go into that package and modify the item based on if the client wants more or less, or a different variation/modifier on that item

Kind Regards,

Nathan

Re: Feature Request - Item Packages / Bundles / Grouping

Hi Sellers 👋,

We're excited to share that we have recently launched Bundles with Square for Retail Plus!

If you missed it, you can read our announcement here. This feature allows you to combine multiple components into one item bundle and sell those items together while still having the ability to track inventory of the individual components.

This feature is currently available in all regions for Square for Retail Plus sellers. We’ll also be adding this feature for Square Online Plus sellers sometime later in August.

Have a read-through of the linked articles and don't hesitate to reach out to us with any further questions!

Hey @Kickaboom,

Thanks for reaching out!

I moved your post to this existing feature request thread we have for item bundles, which is essentially what you're looking for here.

We'll continue tracking the request here and tag anyone in this thread with an update if we have any news to share on this feature in the future.

In the mean time, check out the top answer for a few possible workarounds. Thank you for adding your voice to this one!

I need to create a composite product containing mix n match bundles. I was quite surprised to learn that Square could not do this natively and that I could not find an extension that would do the job either.

I need to create a composite product containing 3 item categories. For item 1, staff/customers need to choose the flavour (I have achieved this through creating modifier sets). For items 2 & 3, staff/customers need to choose any combination of flavours from a preset number of items (this is where I need the mix n match bundles).

I'll give an example for the sake of clarity:

A large Movie Pack is made up of 1 large popcorn, 4 drinks and 4 ice creams.

Staff/customers must choose the flavour of the popcorn, must choose any combination of 4 drink flavours from 6 possible options, and must choose any combination of 4 ice cream flavours from 6 possible options.

We are a bricks and mortar retail store that will also have an online store for click and collect. So I need this functionality available through our in-store POS and online shop.

I would also like to add my vote for 'packages' or 'kits'. Bundling multiple individual items together to sell under a single code is a fairly common thing to do when selling and even the simple POS software programs have this, and I was quite surprised to learn that Square does not have this feature.

What I would like to be able to do is the following:

  • Make a Kit and give it a name e.g. "KIT ONE"
  • Assign multiple items to it e.g. ITEM ONE, ITEM TWO, ITEM THREE, ITEM FOUR
  • Be able to see stock levels of Kits and packages with breakdown of levels of items assigned to kits and ideally what kits they are assigned to

 Example

Item Name               Stock Level               Assigned

KIT ONE                   2                                 N/A

ITEM ONE                5                                 2 (KIT ONE)

ITEM TWO               10                                2 (KIT ONE)

ITEM THREE           12                                2 (KIT ONE)

ITEM FOUR             15                                2 (KIT ONE)

  • Option to decide if items allocated to kits are available for individual sale or ability to break kits back down for individual sale (breaking a kit down would immediately reduce the stock level of the kit by 1 and increase the item stock level by 1 (or more if kit contains multiple of the item)
  • Tracking of stock at item level so when you sell a kit it automatically reduces stock of items contained in the kit.
  • Ability for items to belong to more than one package or kit

Hey @Popkin,

Thanks for getting in touch! Welcome to our community 🙂 👋

I've moved this post over to this thread, where we're tracking this feature request. We appreciate you sharing how you'd like to use this feature in your day to day. Use cases like this help our product team when building out new features! The best answer pinned in this thread also has some useful workarounds you can try in the meantime.

We'll be sure to tag you here to let you know of any updates.

Thank you for adding your vote and detailing how you'd like this feature to work, @simonp

Our product teams and engineers monitor our Seller Community for feedback and feature requests very often, and we will update this thread to notify you of any news on this feature request.

Thank you.

Unfortunately none of the best answers would suffice for our needs. We could find a temporary work around for staff to control in-store but not for customers buying online.

We'll be giving a set price to each composite product (Movie Pack), not a percentage discount. There are very specific products that go into each Movie Pack so it would get too complicated and long-winded for customers buying online to ensure they are actually purchasing the correct combination for each Movie Pack.

I tried to use Modifier Sets to create the mix n match bundle and I can ensure customers choose the required 4 products within the bundle, but I can't give them the option to choose any combination of the 4 items. So close but so far!

Sorry to hear that the workarounds weren't workable for you, @Popkin. Hopefully we'll be able to share some news about this feature soon!

It is possible to build an item using mutilple of the items already listed in my items? So item B is made from 1 F, 1 FD, 1 W, 1 S, 1 ST  when F, FD, W, S, ST already are in my inventory and instead of relying on staff to enter all items they can just enter the one item that contains many?

Hi @JEvans173,

Thanks for writing in!

The ability to group items into bundles made out of individual items is currently a feature request. I've merged your post to this thread where we're tracking this feature request. Check out the best answer for some workarounds you can consider in the meantime.

We'll be sure to share an update with you here as soon as we have news to share.

Hi,

We use Square as our POS and inventory management for a liquor store. We have setup variations for our beer products of 'single', '6 Pack' and 'Carton'.

Is there anyway we can have Square recognise that a 6 Pack = 6 singles or a carton = 24 singles?

At the moment when we sell one 6 pack it reduces the total inventory by one unit instead of 6 units.

Thanks

Paul
