So when I input amount and charge, the screen does not show connecting to reader, therefor when card is put into the reader nothing is happening.

Hi @Angieb89, sorry to hear you're having trouble with the card reader! Have you been able to run through the troubleshooting steps yet? They usually help with any underlying connection issue.
If you have run through the steps and the reader is still not recognising or accepting card payments, you can file a warranty claim for your Square Reader in the Square Shop. We'll be able to send out a replacement reader then.
