How to improve my page's speed and names of the links of uploaded photos/images?

Dear Sir/Madam,

I have two questions:

QUESTION #1:
I've been trying to optimize my page in Google Search also with Google Search Console. After checking my page's speed in Google's PageSpeed Insight I've noticed that some of the code should be fixed:

Should fix:
Eliminate render-blocking JavaScript and CSS in above-the-fold content
Your page has 4 blocking script resources and 6 blocking CSS resources. This causes a delay in rendering your page.
None of the above-the-fold content on your page could be rendered without waiting for the following resources to load. Try to defer or asynchronously load blocking resources, or inline the critical portions of those resources directly in the HTML.
Remove render-blocking JavaScript:
https://ajax.googleapis.com/ajax/libs/jquery/1.8.3/jquery.min.js
http://cdn2.editmysite.com/js/lang/en/stl.js?buildTime=1479938030&
http://cdn2.editmysite.com/js/site/main.js?buildTime=1479938030
http://cdn2.editmysite.com/js/lang/en/stl.js?buildTime=1479938030&
Optimize CSS Delivery of the following:
http://cdn2.editmysite.com/css/sites.css?buildTime=1479938030
http://cdn2.editmysite.com/css/old/fancybox.css?1479938030
http://cdn2.editmysite.com/…ss/social-icons.css?buildtime=1479938030
http://www.urkofishingadventures.com/files/main_style.css?1480300663
http://fonts.googleapis.com/…0italic,700italic&subset=latin,latin-ext
http://fonts.googleapis.com/…ontserrat:400,700&subset=latin,latin-ext

Google's PageSpeed Insight says, that fixing this would have a measurable impact on page performance. Is there any chance that I fix this? I would like to have good working/fast loading page (better form my competition) without additional "cargo".

QUESTION #2:
I've been checking names of links of photos/images, that I've uploaded on Weebly service. Before uploading I've named all photos (e.g. car.jpg) for better search optimization in Google Search/Images, but after uploading names of the photos completely changed (e.g. 3948532.jpg) and now don't have any significant name. Is there any chance that I fix name of the image in the link? Again, I would like to have good working/fast loading page (better form my competition) without additional "cargo".

Thanks for any helpful answers.

Best regards, Uros.

It wouldn't be possible to move where some code is rendered, although this is true of many sites on the internet. The real-world impact of changing that wouldn't likely be noticed by human visitors to the site, anyway. You'd also see similar suggestions for most sites on the internet, including huge online retails like Amazon.

As for image names, we changed how this works so image names are retained. This only applies to uploads made after the change, though, so you'd need to re-add any image where you want the file name to be retained.

Hi. I meet the same situation.
Please help us to optimize my Weebly page, or give us any directions to SEO our site.
I think this is the most important thing and if weebly want to grow up in future, they have to investigate this SEO problem.
It sure that everybody want their site to have a higher position in Search Engine, after they finish design their site.
So, i think SEO for Weebly page should be the most considerable topic for Weebly technical team.
Thank you

Seriously Adam? Yes this is certainly a real problem that those of us with multiple Weebly websites are facing. Comparing our disadvantage to a leveraged site such as Amazon is ludicrous.

We understand that many non-weebly hosted sites experience the same problems we do with Weebly themes and the clunky critical rendering paths. This will likely become a much larger problem in the near future as Google has indicated the privileging of mobile and AMP pages for SERP's.

I sincerely hope we can get more than a shrug of the shoulders and an "oh well" from Weebly to support us, your (valued?) customers.

I agree, the response from Weebly on this theme is inadequate.  All SEO reports indicate that this is a must fix to improve SEO.  Saying that end users wont notice the load difference is not the point; the end users won't find the sites to load them if the search engines do not consider them worthy of high ranking due to this issue.  This will lose Weebly their commercial clients if it's not addressed.

CloudFlare it baby 🙂 Not only will it take some load off Weebly's server it will also make your site load faster and give it an extra layer of security.

decrease the size of your photos to 1200 x 780 or less---large photosm frames and lots of CSS style designs slow your page loading speed MEGA Smiley Happy

Hi Uros, Hi Weebly team,

I get kind of the same warnings from GG PageSpeed insights...

https://developers.google.com/speed/pagespeed/insights/?url=http://www.portorunningtours.com

In my case it's "8 blocking script resources and 10 blocking CSS resources"

I know human users don't really notice the difference in miliseconds of page loading speed but a red warning sign from the allmighty Google is certainly NOT helping me (and others) reach first page in search results... And the Java and  Css erros seem to be more penalising on the MOBILE devices (which for me, in the tourism industry, is fundamental to perform the best)

Can you please give it some attention?

Thank, hope Weebly team brings us good news soon!

Best regards

Sérgio

PS: This is what the report for my website looks like:

first you need to optimize your page as well as images. It will decrease your page size. As page size decreases, page speed increases. you also need to perform ptcl dsl speed test to check either it is your internet connection problem or speed size is greater.

Anyone had a response from Weebly to let us know they are working on it?

Sitespeed is becoming an important ranking factor for Google and Weebly really needs to adress it...or else those of us who understand SEO will start leaving in droves.

I see you left Weebly in April 2018. Is life better on WordPress? Does it have its own issues? I'd love to hear a head-to-head comparison.

Thanks,

Performance and page speed is something that we're always working on improving, although I don't have any specific info on that right now. In a more general sense I'd recommend keeping the content of any given page to a modest amount. The more you add to a page the longer it will take to load for someone.

We need a LOT more help than that Adam.  Thanks for at least replying.  BUT your answers do nothing to assist with Weebly sites being ignored by Google because they have so many issues that are out of our control.  You are offering and selling this platform so people like myself can create websites, many of us are trying to make a LIVING, but then don't provide the services required to actually succeed.  MY EXPERIENCE since transferring my company to Weebly (huge mistake) is the lack of real support, extreme limitation in development and store options and cart options and shipping options, SEO roadblocks that are insurmountable, marketing solutions that we must pay more for, a builder that has glitches and mysteriously changes or drops content....I've gotten some help that was useful from Weebly support a few times.  But the majority of the time I'm told it's being looked at, or I should suggest 'a feature request' (UGH!)....or, the worst, given terible advice that makes matters far far far worse and actually ruins my company.  I've got such a tangled up mess of a website now with fake pages I had to create due to direct advice from Weebly tech support to help my Google SEO (worst advice EVER), lame pages, convoluted and unworkable shipping settings, oh forget it.

Deaf ears.

You can also use a website accelerator built on serverless architecture. This ensures that all assets of your website get accelerated on CDN, serverless storage and function compute. For example, check out kitsune-Nitro. Its a simple JS file that you need to add to your website.

As and when users open your website, the service workder identifies different sections of your website and moves them to a serverless stack. This ensurs that for the next user most of the content is accelerated.

I have been using Weebly since my last SEO company re-built my site.  It looks better than what I had, thats for sure and my original site was built on an outdated Godaddy website builder.  I had to rebuild the entire site from the ground up to make.  Long story short, I fired my company and have been working on the site myself and I am extremely disappointed in the speed, blog features, and lack of customizing certain things on the site.  Now I have to look into re-building it again.  Hell, its only money right?  Ugh

I think your dead on . There should be a site optimizer , which cautions you when your adding  photos or other content that makes your page load slowly. And maybe a wizard that allows you to resize items to optimize performance. This would also be a great selling point for your website selling Weebly.
