How have YOUR roles changed in your business?

I was sitting back yesterday looking at all the jobs I have "fired" myself from in my business. I don't send out prep texts or follow up - I have that fully automated. I don't work 7 days a week anymore. My staff has incredible ideas to boost sales and revenue in the salon so I don't have to come up with all of the ideas.

Now (VS a year ago), I am more of an operations, payroll manager, and still a spray tan tech and sales women VS a year ago I was in charge of supply management, marketing, new ideas, taking clients, shipping, and working 7 days a week.

How have YOUR roles changed in your business over time?

I'm glad to hear you no longer work 7 days a week, that must have been hard going @Bronze_Palms

I've just pinned this to the homepage for other sellers to read and consider, thank you for starting this thread!

Congrats on the growth @Bronze_Palms. I so look forward to this for me soon.  Since this is my 1st location, I have a must be hands on mentality.  I was talking with my hairdresser last week and I mentioned how draining it is to feel like you have to do everything.  I've told myself if I personally don't do it my business will fail.  I know how crazy that sounds and I know I have to tame that fear.

Sounds like that's half the battle done, @JUYBoutique20! Hope the fear's been more manageable since you posted this. We've been dealing with a handful of major and minor fires these past few weeks and I'm trying not to think about how I would have dealt with them if I didn't have my team.

I'm excited for you to be able to share the weight soon! 👌🏽

I fired my previous accountant and bookkeeper (both me) this year!

Other roles in my business (since it's just me) have been promoted. Instead of a marketing intern, I'm now the Chief Marketing Officer of my business. Instead of being my own receptionist, salon manager, and inventory specialist, I now am the Chief Operations Officer: I've automated booking and correspondence, inventory, payroll, ordering, etc.

Since my business is just me, I can't fire everyone (or anyone right now), I am always looking at ways to 'develop and promote' my 'employee'.

Most of the year I'm down to six days a week, except for winemaking/harvest season (a vineyard/winery/tasting room/restaurant/event venue), which we just work until the work is done.  I spend a lot more time managing other peoples time, fixing things, solving problems and filling in where we're short staffed in different areas of the business on specific days.

@Bronze_Palms I haven’t really fired my self. If I do I won’t be working. I can say with using square as my main business solution, Besides a direct billing program for insurance claims. It really is easy to just show up at my office, do my thing and leave. Pretty automated to say the least.
