New Year, New Payroll: Why This is the Best Time to Switch to Square.
You’re invited to our webinar November 28, 2023!
Have you been thinking about switching payroll providers? Or maybe using an online payroll provider for the first time? The beginning of the year is the best time to do it.
Why is January the best time to switch payroll providers? 🤷
By starting with a new provider at the beginning of the year, you won’t have to go through the hassle of collecting all your year-to-date and quarter-to-date information from your old provider or accountant. Your new payroll provider can start fresh for the new year.
With that in mind, the Square Payroll team will be hosting a webinar where they will cover all things payroll, making the switch, and other helpful integrations such as HR Manager, Shifts, time tracking, workers’ compensation, employee benefits, and more!
This is your golden opportunity to engage with Square Payroll specialists and ask them any questions directly!
Missed it? Don’t worry! ☑️
You can watch the recording here and continue to ask questions there as well.
Can I use Square Payroll for my business if it is just me? I own and operate my business. I have an LLC.

Hi @chantellemoline you could use Square Payroll to pay yourself and then you would still get the benefits of having your payroll tax filings done for you.
We pay by service and different services have different pricing. So by the hour doesn't work for us. Is there an easy way to set up Square payroll for that? Is it even an option?
It is possible to set the hourly wage for commission only employees to $0.00 and doing this will allow you to import commissions into a pay run without any hourly wages importing. There are many employers who use Square Payroll for only paying commissions.
Or are you asking for tiered service rates / percentages?

We are a wellness center so a 60 minute basic massage may be $60 for the hour where a hot stone would be $75 for an hour. We pay accordingly. And if it's a 30 minute basic massage, it wouldn't be paid at half the 60 minute. Can't just put .5 hr for a 30 min.
@CWQuakertown Hmm yeah I see what you mean. Square Payroll isn't exactly set up for "project" based work setups at the moment, though our product team is aware of this request. You are not the first to bring this to our attention.
Is there a plan to accommodate family member employees? Specifically children who are exempt from certain federal taxes? The lack of ability to do that now is the only reason I haven’t moved to Square Payroll.
Good question as this is something I will have to look into in the near future.
@MCCreations_B @EKHVACLLC
This is a feature request as we don't currently have the ability to exclude employees from Medicare / Social Security taxes.
Thank you! Definitely keep me posted if a Beta comes out for that. I would prefer to utilize Square Payroll but this is the only reason I can't currently.

Hi would there be any way to access the recording after? I’m really interested, but working at that exact time
Hi @Strandhslv ! Yes, we will send a follow-up email that includes the recording, as well as a space to continue to ask questions. We'll also make sure you are notified here on the Community as well.
Nevermind just saw it.
Hi, if we switch to payroll I am guessing all my employees will have to redo their direct deposit info. How long does that take to go through?
Hi @cash4clothes, when setting up team members you can send them each a link so that they fill out all their direct deposit info themselves. Once they submit that information, the process is immediate and they can start receiving funds.
We actually will cover this in a quick demo during the webinar.
