Feature Request - Item Packages / Bundles / Grouping

Feature Request - Item Packages / Bundles / Grouping

I'd like to suggest a feature of Grouping items together into "Packages" so that when I'm selling a client a standard set of items all i need to do is select the package that applies and then if necessary go into that package and modify the item based on if the client wants more or less, or a different variation/modifier on that item

Kind Regards,

Nathan

Re: Feature Request - Item Packages / Bundles / Grouping

Hi Sellers 👋,

We're excited to share that we have recently launched Bundles with Square for Retail Plus!

If you missed it, you can read our announcement here. This feature allows you to combine multiple components into one item bundle and sell those items together while still having the ability to track inventory of the individual components.

This feature is currently available in all regions for Square for Retail Plus sellers. We’ll also be adding this feature for Square Online Plus sellers sometime later in August.

Have a read-through of the linked articles and don't hesitate to reach out to us with any further questions!

Hi, @HAYLEIGH, while we continue to advocate for this feature request with our Product Team, I don't have any further news to share here at this time.

We've provided the available workarounds in this thread but unfortunately, this isn't a one size fits all workaround. The closest you could get to replicating the in-person workaround for Square Online would be to create a coupon code that your customers could use once they've added the relevant items to their cart.

It's worth pointing out that while you have the option to select a specific category or set of items the coupon will apply to, there is no way to prevent the coupon from being used should a customer only add one of the selected items to the cart.

Depending on what information you require for each item, would a text box modifier help to resolve this issue at all?

I'll keep a lookout for your response here.

Thanks Laurie,

I did develop some modifiers thinking that this could solve the issue, however every time I tried to test the product, it would allow the item to be added to card and proceed to checkout without the modifiers popping up, so all the data I need to capture in the modifiers, was completely bypassed.

I don't want the modifiers to have a price point attributed to them, but I need text fields for the customer to type in the answer, for example for customisation of a product, such as words for a Tshirt or engraving.

What I need is to be able to custom label a prompt with a text box for the customer to enter info, and for those fields to be mandatory once they have added a product to the cart. Is this a function the modifiers can help with?

Thanks

Great question, @HAYLEIGH!

You can certainly make the text box modifier a required field for each relevant item that requires customisation. This will prevent customers from proceeding to the payment screen without first entering the information.

When you are setting up the modifier, you want to ensure you've selected the checkbox 'Make this a required field'. See the screenshot example below of where to find this setting.

Let me know how you go with this on your end!

I am hoping someone can help me. i sell strip lashes on my website, and i am wanting to create 'Bulk bundles', for example, 20 lashes for X amount. I allow the customer to add 20 lash styles of their choice from this bundle (as one item). i can add my styles underneath the item (Bulk bundle), although how do I make it so the customer can add more than 1 of the same style to cart? I hope this makes sense thanks 🙂

Hi, @Jaz-22, thanks for reaching out with your question. I noticed it's your first time posting in the Seller Community as well - welcome!

I've moved your post to a thread where we are currently tracking this feature request. At this stage, it's not possible to create an item bundle with Square, however, there are some workarounds we've suggested here that may help you achieve a similar result.

In terms of Square Online workarounds, this does become a little tricky. You can create a coupon that your customer can use to apply a discount to a bundle order (after they've individually added the items to their cart). However, it's worth noting that there is nothing preventing a customer from using the coupon if they've only added one item to their cart. I explain this in greater detail in my previous comment here

Have a read through the other suggestions in this thread to see what we've recommended to other Sellers.

We'll continue to track this request and will be sure to include an update here once we have more news to share.

Hi there @Spinayarncraft,

Thanks for reaching out to us here with your query!

What you've described sounds like an ongoing feature request here in Australia, for the ability to add items into a package, bundle or group.

I've gone ahead and moved your post to a thread where we are continuing to track this feature request. Please read through our recommended workarounds to see if any of these could be useful in your case.

Should you have further questions here, feel free to reach out to us!

Hi - wondering if anyone has an idea of how to have an option to "create a hamper" with multiple items - but also apply an overall discount if a "hamper" is made.

The idea being the customer can choose from a range of items, then selects the type of packaging (box, or from a selection of hamper bags).

I have tried with drop-down lists, but I find it confusing myself when looking on the website.

Any help or ideas would be appreciated!

Hiya @crochetbybrewer 👋

Thanks for adding to this thread by sharing your interest in bundles and packages for Square Online.

Your best way to offer this would be the workarounds shared in this thread, such as creating an item called "Hamper" showing what's included in the hamper - keep in mind this won't keep track of individual items or using variations via the drop-down.

Our team is working on this feature, and I hope I can share an update for bundled items on Square Online soon. We'll be sure to tag everyone in this thread once we have news.

Thanks @Arie!

Looking forward to any possible updates!

Would online/website 'discounts' (not coupons) be something that could be an improvement suggestion as well? (For an item or category?)
