Option to sort by newest item missing

Our online store no longer has the option to display items by most recently entered. And is there a way to default to displaying by date entered?

I found the option for "Filter and Sort" but how do I make our site default to display the newest items first?

Our team went ahead and updated a setting that seemed to be stuck on your website to display the newest first.  When you have a moment, we will need you to publish your site one more time to make sure that this change is propagated publicly.

I published the site again and the option to sort is there now.
