annoying scams and adult advertisements

Our official website has been inexplicably bombarded with annoying scams and adult advertisements in the footer section, along with strange pop-ups from unknown sources. How can we shut them down and prevent further breaches?

Hi @nikki_ai,

Thanks for reaching out to the community about this.

Looking at the screenshot you’ve shared, it does look like this pop-up advertising might be related to an issue local to the device, or browser you’re using.

If you load your site on a different device or browser, do you experience the same issue?

If you could share the link to your site, I’ll be happy to confirm if I see any of these pop-ups when I load the site on my end.

Hi @Sineaid

Thank you for your response.

We have used many different computers and opened the webpage with Chrome, Safari, and Brave browsers. After turning off the browsers' built-in ad blockers, sometimes the pop-up advertising appears immediately, while other times it takes a while to appear.

Additionally, when we click on the navigation menu, we are sometimes redirected to unrelated external websites.

Here is our website: www.jackli.cc

Thanks for confirming, and for sharing the link @nikki_ai!

I also encountered the same redirect ads when visiting your site, so I reached out to our Weebly specialists for advice on how you might prevent this going forward.

The team took a closer look, and it would appear that your site is utilizing a custom theme. As the code of the original theme was altered, it would account for these issues.

It’s recommended that you return your site to one of our supported themes, by following the steps here

I hope this helps, but if you need anything else, just let me know!

Hi @Sineaid

I have already reset to the other default Weebly themes, but the inappropriate pop-up advertising and redirects still persist.

Under these circumstances, we have no choice but to temporarily unpublish the website. Please assist us in resolving the website hijacking issue as soon as possible.

Hi @nikki_ai

If you have already changed your website theme and are still experiencing the same issue with the redirects, we can file a ticket so our engineers can further review.

Since we don't have access to your account information on the Community, I'd ask you to contact Weebly's support team directly by phone or email. They'll be happy to assist.

 Thanks for your patience.

Hi @nikki_ai, unfortunately we don't have access to your website settings on the Community to help you troubleshoot this further.

I strongly suggest contacting the Weebly support team by email or phone, so they can look into this and potentially escalate to our engineers.
