Hi,

 

We quickly built a Square/Weebly Online Store this week so that people could place contactless/curbside orders for our gelato shop. It's working great and I love that the tickets print out when it's time to make the order.

 

We are also implementing a local delivery service where people can preorder with us and we'll deliver it on Friday night. Right now we're doing it by email to take their item order and we respond back with a Square Invoice to capture payment. Has anyone successfully found a way to do local delivery with the Online Store platform?

 

It would be awesome if besides Pickup or Shipping, merchants could toggle on a Local Delivery button and the merchant could set a few options, such as "Delivery on Friday night, 4-7pm," "Delivery on Saturday afternoon, 12-6pm." Maybe with an option to assign a fee, but that's less important during this emergency response.

We are currently testing Batch Processing in our Beta Community, which may help you out. This is another update to allowing pre-orders on your online store.  We'd love for you to join in the test and provide feedback.

Pre-orders are still considered a feature request, which we're tracking here.

In the meantime, I would recommend creating a special category for your upcoming items - or include the words Coming Soon in the item title until the item is available. You can also set the stock to in order for the item to appear as Out of Stock - the label you are referring to:

Thanks for the tip!  I actually don't want the label to be Out of Stock but Coming Soon.  Is that possible?

I want people to be able to order items but I want it to be set up where they can only order that item for certain days. This should be an added feature on here. I already use the modifier but it confuses some customers 

Ok. I am beyond getting frustrated with Square. How are preorders not a feature yet? It would be a simple fix on the programming side of things. My brother is a programmer for a large company and said it's not a big deal to do this...so what gives?? 

 

We are continuously getting upset and confused customers because they get an automated email giving them a date to pickup their order that week when it's a preorder for a future week. We need to be able to pick the date that customers get emailed for confirmation. This would be as easy as adding an option next to the pickup checkbox on the listing that allows you to select a specific pickup date. 

 

We have changed the listing title to include the date to pickup and put a note in bold in the listing that they may get an email with a different date. PEOPLE ARE STILL CONFUSED BY THE AUTOMATED EMAIL. We have had countless messages and people come in to the store to pickup when the item is not here yet. 

 

This morning I just had another person message me confused about the email date that was sent to them. And not sure when to pickup. 

This is really needed! Our waffle shop does special pre order events that are limited to very specific days  and around a holiday or event and it is VERY confusing to our customers and causes us to lose business. You should be able to select specific available dates!

I cannot say enough, how awesome Square has been - the platform and the site/storefront. The flexibility, and adaptability to the current situation at any given time, it incredible. 

 

I am participating in a crafter/vendor event May 1 and 2. It happens three times a year and this will be the fifth virtual one during the pandemic. In Nov 2020, my square sales for this event were 20k. 100% of which had one of two specific pick-up dates, and 100% of the headaches were related to this issue. 

 

We have participated in multiple week-long craft/artisan events with one pick-up or delivery date at the end. It means guessing at and adjusting the fulfillment times daily. Heaven forbid an hour goes by after your 'store hours' and orders come in before realizing. 

 

A more recent example - We have a small storefront full of items. Currently, it is pick-up only with a 48 hr fulfillment time. We do a mother's days basket fundraiser that sells out every year and because of the quick turn around and time sensitivity – are offering delivery for this item only (in addition to pick-up). Pick-up can happen any time for other items, however baskets will be packed on Thursday May 6th, and ready Friday May 7th only (mothers day is may 9th). When they went live today, I had to set the delivery timeframe for 0 minutes - 7 days, and the fulfilment time to 2 weeks. But at 4:30 when the physical location closed, and an online order for a mothers day basket came in, it bumped their delivery to the monday AFTER mother's day. I quickly tried to adjust the fulfillment time, but the options are 5 business day, 1 week, 2 weeks.... basically i need 10 business days, but then monday I would have to change it again to 9 business days, and so on. On Monday I am going to make 40 phone calls to let people know NOT to expect their delivery when their square text and email says. 

 

Square seems to be so on top of everything else! I am really really hoping for the ability to just pick a specific date on and item by item basis in the future. 

 

 

I am a micro bakery and take doughnut orders all week for Friday pickups, so it doesn't matter when they place their orders, doughnut orders can only be picked up on Fridays. How do I adjust this? Right now I sell other pastries too where I have a 2 business day turnaround (so they order on Monday pickup on Wednesday, or order Tuesday pickup Thursday). How do I make my doughnut pickup date different than my 2 day turnaround on my site?

Right now, setting specific Pick up times for certain items is a feature request we're tracking. Moved you to a thread where sellers share their workarounds.

I am trying to use the delivery service through square. When my customers go to checkout, they can not purchase the item because it says it's not available till Thursday, (which is the day I deliver). Does anyone know how to fix this? I'm desperate for help
