Feature Request: Applying Item Modifiers Multiple Times

Hi All,

I'm a new convert and am currently onboarding my own restaurants. Having come from 8 years with Kounta as a specialist channel partner, there is plenty to like with Square for restaurants but some work is required to minimise crazy work arounds.

This is an essential option for both restaurant POS and Online ordering. It is crazy to have to build out 1 x sugar 2 x sugar 3 x sugar or the same for eggs. your modifier lists ends up too long and confusing which simply leads to customer frustration, a poor customer experience and poor adaptation to self serve ordering.

I hope Square with all its resources are significantly quicker than Kounta to develop these simple features that have a big impact.

I look forward to watching the product evolve into the market leader in this space

Thank you for writing in with this feature request! I understand your frustration about having to create additional modifiers. I've reached out to our Square for Restaurants team to see if there's another, easier way to achieve this. I'll report back shortly!

I'll second the request. 

I've seen this come up many times in the seller community, it makes a lot of sense in hospo (especially beverages) and one of those things I expected would just work.. It seems like it would be simple to implement also..

Hi everyone

I have just started using Square for Restaurant with Square Register and I'm seeing a lot of improvements that is needed. I do love the hardware square offers and user interface but there are so many things it lacks to be useful in the F&B industry.

As others has mentioned many time,  one key function that need to be addressed is the ability to add multiple same modifier items. This is so needed and it should be Square's priority to address this function

Same problem for us, currently have 5 sugar and 5 sweetener options under 1 modifier (total 10 options) which can be reduced to 2 options if options can have quantities. It's not good user experience, especially for self serve online orders.

Currently, the software only allows for only 1 serve of a modifier, however, I have many requests for double serve of bacon or eggs etc, but I am unable to enter the bacon modifier mulitple times. Is there, currently a way to do this?, or could this be fixed in upcoming software updates?

Thanks for writing to add your feedback around the item modifier functionality!

I've merged your post with an existing feature request thread, so we can continue to track the feedback we receive from sellers with our Product Team.

At this time, the ability to add multiple of the same item modifier (for example, to add a second pump of chocolate sauce to a single ice cream sundae) is not available. In the meantime as a possible workaround, you can create an item modifier that accounts for the double portion (and the difference in cost), so that you can charge the right price every time (as in the earlier example, create a modifier for two pumps of extra chocolate sauce).

I know there are a number of developments in the pipeline for Square for Restaurants this year, so when we have further updated to share, we'll be sure to make an announcement on the Seller Community!
