I'm not 100% sure I understand. Is your old headphone jack part still stuck in your phone? If it is then you will need to get it out. If it isn't all you have to do is plug in your new reader. there is no activating needed to be done, all readers simply work with the account that is logged into Square POS of the device it is connected to.
