Inventory Question

I am new to Square and am currently setting up my items. To keep track with my inventory, I need a little advice...

So I have multiple shirt designs with multiple sizes and various colored shirts. How do I need to set that up in my Items in order to keep track of my inventory correctly?

Should I have 1 design and have modifiers with the sizes and colors? Or should I have each design, size, and color for each individual item?

Ex: Item 1- Pig Design (Adult Small-Mango)

      Item 2- Pig Design (Adult Small-Granite)

      Item 3- Pig Design (Adult Small-White)

Ex: Item 1-Pig Design

-With modifiers of all the shirt colors

-With modifiers of all the shirt sizes

I have a category such as soap. Under that category I add items with their price. I keep everything organized by category but still have my seperate items to keep track of what is selling best.
