Expect Square to charge you triple if you add new Delivery option

We added the new Delivery option to our online Square site and chose the setting indicating Customers pay 100% of delivery fees. Instead, Square is deducting up to 3x the cost of delivery from our payouts as "delivery related fees."

We've written to Square "support" three times about this issue -- twice we received no response at all and third time, the response was completely off topic. It read like an automated response and definitely not like anyone had actually read our support inquiry.

So here we are...almost a month in, being charged 3x the cost of delivery with zero help from Square...who seems to be quite happy silently collecting their money from us.

Do NOT add the delivery option unless you want hidden fees and unexpected costs deducted from your payouts.

HI, unfortunately delivery for a business is very expensive. You can also add a Service Charge.  You can review On-Demand Delivery on the Square Support page.

@gtm - if customers pay 100% of delivery fees, the funds will still 'pass through' your Square account. That is one reason why you see a large Delivery Related Fees line item. The 'Delivery Related Fees' line item includes the courier delivery (which is offset by a customer-paid delivery fee), the courier tip, and, a delivery dispatch fee of $1.50.

For example, on an order in which the item subtotal is $50, with a $4.99 delivery fee and $2 courier tip, you would take home $48.50 of that $50 order, and the 'Delivery Related Fees' line item would be $4.99 + $2 + $1.50 = $8.49

@gtm I would go through and check your settings to make sure you didn't miss anything.

But the cost for on demand delivery is $1.50 per order (paid to square and is not related to the delivery fee charged by the provider)

But you still have to pay the fee for CC processing to square which is 2.9% + .30c I believe.

There are fees charged by door dash or whoever is the provider in your area and that is what the customer pays.  You are paying square the 1.50 for the software integration and the the ability to not have to pay a "commission" on the sale to door dash which is usually 25-35% of the gross sale.  You also don't have to be listed on one of those sites where they can scrape your listings.
