New Square Point of Sale us SUPER SLOW

I noticed that the design of the app changed recently, it looks fine. The problem is this version is SUPER SLOW. My software is up to date, but I noticed in the settings that I can revert back to the "old appearance" and it works much faster. Has anyone else experienced this?

I did notice a slowdown on the new UI as well. What I ended up doing is deleting the app from my tablet, restarting, and reloading the app. That definitely helped out the speediness of the app. Do know you'll have to redo printer settings with a reload of the app.

 

The new UI has a lot of bells and whistles that the old one didn't have, most notably the ability to mark items as Sold Out. Because of the more frequent "chatter" with the Square servers, it does need a newer model tablet to keep up. My oldest tablet is an iPad Air 2, and there are times it struggles a bit with the new setup. Doing the reload definitely helped though.
