I ran into this problem yesterday between dotster.com, and square. I was trying to point a domain which I've done many times in the past but not between these 2 companies. So here is the solution... (PS not sure if you have to do all of this but it did work)
Step 1:
In square from your new website page click on the "setup your domain." Then choose "use a domain I own elsewhere". Type in your domain, then hit verify. This will take you to a screen giving you the IP addresses for step 2 and step 3 below.
Step 2:
Log into Dotster.com, choose your domain and click on DNS settings. Change your name servers to: ns1.dotster.com and ns2.dotster.com (PS: Dotster suggested this, square says this wasn't necessary but I was trying anything to make it work)
Step 3:
In Dotster.com in the same DNS section click on "DNS Records" for your domain. DELETE all "A" Records (just A records not mx or anything else). Add back:
A Record "@" and the IP address given in square on step #1
A Record "www" and the IP address given in square on step #1
PS: don't type in "www" , just www
