Shipping there one moment, gone the next :0

Hi there!!

So, here's what's happening on my site.

I cart something. I go to checkout, put in my info and of course shipping rates appear. FINE!!!

Then, I say to myself, wait that's not what I wanted!!! So, I delete it from my cart.

I go back in and choose the correct item. I once again go to checkout, put in my info.......

Now it says, " Free Shipping".

I did this a few times with fictitious names, but real addresses.

Did the same thing over and over.

So now if someone actually does this on my site. They will get shipping on me??

I'm confused at what to do about this. Can anyone help me with this issue??

Okay, good news is that you are NOT CRAZY!  I'm using Google Chrome and I can replicate exactly what you're describing to me.  I added an item to my cart, entered my address, it calculated shipping, but then I hit "Continue Shopping" in the top left corner.  I removed the original item from my cart, added a new item, and when I go to checkout, I'm magically getting free shipping!  

 

I also tested this out on my own website, and it does the same thing! So I'm feeling pretty confident that you've found a bug in Square that needs to be fixed. 

 

I know you've already reached out to Square and they couldn't replicate it. I will reach out to them and let them know that I'm having the issue as well.  Stay tuned!

Hey @smiger - can you give us a little bit more information about how you have shipping setup in the background? It sounds like maybe something there is triggering Square to calculate shipping as free, maybe? 

 

Does it always happen with the same items? Or does one item show both shipping prices and free shipping, just random?

Hey there Emily,

It happens with different items. my shipping is set up by the poundage 🙂

I talked to someone at Square, and they said they couldn't replicate the issue.

I'm going to try it on a friend's computer system and see if it still happens. They suggested it might be my browser. I dunno :0

I'm using Microsoft Edge.

I did try it with Avast Browser and the same thing happened.

Oh man do I feel dumb.... the CS rep I talked to couldn't replicate the issue either.  But they had me clear my cache and guess what?  It's fixed!  I've tested it out a handful of times now and all seems to be working normally.  The CS rep told me that normally when it's issue like this, it's the cache.  

 

Try to clear your cache in your browser and see if that fixes it.  Hopefully it works for you as well!

Yup. now I feel dumb also because they told me to do that too and I thought I did, but apparently not 🤣. I'm all better now also. But honestly that shouldn't happen at all. 🙄 But thanks for helping me out!! 😁
