Can anyone help me with why my first use with contactless chip reader declined my customer purchase?

I'm sorry to hear that your first payment with your new reader was declined @kkennard! Unfortunately, card-issuing banks don't tell Square the exact reason a card is declined. You'll simply see a message in the app stating the card was declined (all of the declined card messages are listed here).

 

If your customer contacts their card-issuing bank, the bank will be able to tell them why the payment was declined so you can re-attempt the card payment.
