Re: Appointments feature request: Block Clients

Hi @mikethebarber

Nothing new to report on this at the moment, but it seems to be gaining more interest lately so hopefully we can figure out a way to help with situations like this.

One workaround that you can use would be to switch the Reservation Guarantee in your Appointments Settings to "Business must accept or decline all appointment requests".

This allows you to have more control over who actually books up time slots on your calendar.

Re: Appointments feature request: Block Clients

Hey there @UrbanShaveSD

Thanks for sharing this feedback. I can totally see where this feature would be useful for difficult clients and I'll share your feedback with the Appointments team. I've moved this to the Feature Request board where we can track this request.

@StellaMB I see.

There's not currently a way to blacklist or block a specific client from booking.

You can maybe try using the No-Show Protection feature and require a card on file for booking.

If your client doesn’t show up, or cancels outside of your cancellation window, you can choose to enforce your cancellation policy and charge their card on file.

Check out this article and hopefully this works for you:

I too would like to block new appointment from my schedule. As an owner I would rather the new clients be forced to book with my employees who are still building clientele. I want new clients for the shop just not for me specifically....

Yes!! Please allow us to block some customers or make some clients compulsory to book with card.  Reserve with google doesn't allow us to book with cc

Hi there,

were you looking to block a specific client or were you looking to have more control over accepting or declining appointments?

You can choose to have to Accept/Decline every appointment that is booked by your clients. This can be changed from your Calendar & Bookings section of your Appointments Dashboard.

This would allow you to block specific clients from booking.

Can we make this a thing? 😁 It would be really nice. Talk to your people. Making me double think my decision to move to square appointments.

Especially for a Massage Therapist, this is crucial. If I have a client come in and sexually harass me, I need to know that they will never be able to book with our company again. Please push for a black list. Its for the saftey of our Service Providers.

I am a male therapist and I second this recommendation. As a male, we also can have female clients sexually harass us or stalk us. I really would love to be able to block a specific client from booking.

I desperately need that feature to block a specific client from ever booking on line or calling. Not necessary to filter every single booking before approval. I dont have time for it. 97 % there is no issue. This is the 3%  hurting the business I want out of my spa.

Hi, I have a habitual no show cliemt that I also would like to blacklist. She booked her appt online with a fake card number, 4111 1111 1111 1111. How did Square let her book with that? I have a no show cancellation policy with cc required to book. I'm left without a way to charge for the no show. Angry!

@InfiniteExpress I'm very sorry for the frustration this has caused.

A valid card number is required to book an appointment with no show protection. Customers cannot use a fake card number to make a booking, the card is authorized by Square at the time of booking to make sure it's an active card.

So we can investigate this further it would be great if you could give us a call - an Appointments specialist will be able to take a clsoer look.

In the meantime, another workaround is to update your settings so that you review each appointment before accepting it. To enable this sign in to your Appointments Dashboard > click Settings > select Business must accept or decline all appointment requests.

I've been having problems with  entering 4111 111 1111 and phoney cvv and exp. Why is Square not verifying these cards for us?

Same. This really needs to be added so I can make sure she can't book until she pays for the no showed appointment. Card was declined and I don't want her to book again until paid.

This keeps happening to us too!! Happened twice today, which is why I'm on the boards surfing tonight.

This is more than just no shows, we at times are talking safety and I've dealt with the verbally abusive client that ignores all attempts to fire her. Declining appointments from the same jerk over and over doesn't help us, people can be crazy.
