Selling digital files that are automatically emailed to purchaser.

Selling digital files that are automatically emailed to purchaser.

I would like to see a feature on square.

I would like to sell downloadable digital files, where an automated email goes out with the file link right after check out.  I would be able to have one more way to have sales in my business.  I am a hypnotist and don't have a way to sell digital files through my website.  I don’t know how to sell digital files through square.

Oh, and @Michael_L, I used to be a professional photographer.

Your solution benefits you because they are also the printer of your images and provide you cloud storage. Now how would you feel if they offered you that ability but left out details that actually are manual and not automated?

Exactly.

@biglizconjure I understand your frustration a little better now, I agree when something gets taken away it’s angering especially if they then make vague promises to give it back that aren’t kept.

My selling solution is different - it is just cart software you install on your own website, not tied to a lab - but I get your point. Based on what I am reading in this thread adding effective digital sales tools doesn’t appear to be a priority for their development team 😞

[The title of this thread has been edited from the original: Digital Products question]

I want to upload a digital product to my account and create a buy button but I don't see the option to define an item as digital - also there's no button to upload.

I've searched docs, etc. and everything says I should see and select this: "Choose Digital from the Item Type menu" But this is not visible anywhere in my Add Item UI

Do I have the wrong kind of business/account? How can I change that if that's the issue? Any help is appreciated!

Hey @mattosurf

I have moved your post here where another seller asked a similar question. @isabelle  provides the best answear to how you can create a digital product. If this is not what you were looking for please let me know.

Happy to see your question in our Seller Community! 😀

Hi.

While there is some thought being put into enabling download links for digital products, perhaps the Weebly Item Types (Physical, Digital, Membership, Donation etc) could be integrated into Square for a more seamless item maintenance. That way, Digital, Membership, Donation items could be sold from the Square App.

Additionally, it would be very useful to have Item Type applied to Item variations. That way a single Item could be created for audio which could be sold as variations of CD (yes, some are still sold :-)), solid state drive or download. At present, for each delivery format, a distinct duplicate item must be created with the only difference being the delivery format. When they are migrated to Weebly, there are (say) 3 very similar looking items which have to be manually set for their Item Type.

Thanks, Peter.

So, 2 years of Square users requesting updates and only cookie cutter replies and no action being taken lets me know I need to remove all my content and products from this site and take it over to Shopify or Ecwid because this is just pathetic. We are living in a time when virtaully EVERYTHING is happening online and yall have yet to be able to allow customers to dowload digital files directly after purchase, straight from Square? The fact that I have to manually email a digital product is ridiculous and I'm over it. Good Riddance Square.

Hi @chanelaf. You should feel empowered to do what is best for your business - and we understand that you will. We field thousands of feature requests each week here on the Seller Community, and bringing these features to fruition often takes an ample amount of time and effort from our engineers. We want to ensure that our releases are not just surface level products, but the best all-around resources to help you grow your business.

We understand that it might be difficult waiting for something to be built out, but our engineers are working on various different requests brought up by our sellers, and working with Apple, Google, and our other partners in order to approve these changes and be able to push them out in future updates.

@chanelaf I get that you're upset, but this is a bit like yelling at a grocery store for not selling auto parts because the company that owned the building before used to sell auto parts.

Square mostly processes payments.  Sure, they took over from a previous business, but they don't do exactly what the previous owners do and that's ok.  You can still get what you used to have elsewhere, or you can combine the services of another vendor with Square to get what you need (as I mentioned before).

You've wasted 2 years now being mad about this, but you aren't entitled to anything here.  Stop beating on these folks, accept that things change, and go solve your own problems instead of demanding they do it for you.

You feel better now that you got that all out? LOL.. I really don’t care about what you’re talking about.. all these large corporations do is try to monopolize services to upcharge the consumer.. the feature me (and many others on this thread who you didn’t bother to harass) are referring to is one that was ALREADY in existence with weebly before square greedily took over.. so you really typed a bunch of crap for no reason.. and I haven’t wasted 2 years being mad about anything.. when you assume you make yourself look unintelligent .. now please leave me alone and go find something to do sir

There's an old adage: "God, give me the grace to accept the things I cannot change, the courage to change the things I can, and the wisdom to know the difference."

This is one of those 'cant change' things; I get that you and others don't like the change but it's done, and this feature won't be back any time soon.  Abusing the moderators is like yelling at a barista because there's no more caramel drizzle for your fancy coffee; you can **bleep** and moan all you want, it just makes everyone's day worse and changes nothing.

All I'm trying to say is - ease up a bit.  Let's recognize that the folks at Square are working hard, doing their best, and they are humans who deserve not to be abused over something they can't control.
