Change employee sale attributed to

Our business is a hair salon that operates on commission. Sometimes our employees mis-attribute sales to other people who did not complete the sale. We need a way to edit these transactions and assign them to the correct employee for both accounting and payroll purposes. Because we use Payroll with commission, the employees who did not complete the sale end up getting paid, and the ones who actually made the sale do not. This is unacceptable.

Welcome to the Community, @Ashandcohair

Appreciate you taking the time to check in about this Feature Request. Right now, this still isn't available to do once a sale has been completed.

Once more information is available, one of our Community Moderators will be able to post a Product Update with more information.

Keep an eye out for Product Update posts or emails for new features launching!

Welcome back to the Community, @newleafhair -

Great question! Whenever a sale is completed it cannot be edited and that would include the team member assigned to it.

Does your commission based employee clock in or sign into their own team member account?

Also, I added your post to a thread where other sellers were having a similar discussion and we can post a Product Update if there is an update.

Any chance this is an upcoming feature this year? Our business needs the ability to change who sales are attributed to. I'm disappointed that Square does not seem to take into account sellers' feedback.

@user12039123 I've not heard of any news on whether this feature is currently in the development pipeline or not unfortunately, though if I hear of any updates I'll loop back to this thread.

Are you having any difficulty with sales attribution at the moment at all, or is the request for when the system hasn't been used as intended?

Hi,

Thank you for the quick response. I am having difficulty with the sales attribution for several reasons. First, we are currently using codes to attribute sales and of course, there is some human error with this. Second, many clients visit our salon and have different employees doing their hair. The entire sale only goes to one of the employees, so the other employee that might have assisted or done part of the service receives no credit. This requires our manager to manually manipulate the data biweekly. This feature to be able to change who a sale is attributed to is extremely important for many businesses, including ours. I don't know how we will continue with Square if this isn't updated soon. We are unable to even give accurate bi-annual reviews to our stylists because the system is off and we are unable to update/change who receives credit for a sale.

Thanks for sharing this feedback @user12039123!

In all honestly, I have not heard of features such as this coming to Square appointments, but it's valuable to hear a use case such as this as it raises a scenario where it would be helpful. We'll continue tracking feedback via this thread and update it if anything changes here!

I have three staff members who are paid commission, and this is an issue for us as well. To add to the user error issue that has already been discussed (i.e. user puts in the wrong number and we can't change it back), we will also share commission if more than one staff member assisted with a sale, so being able to assign percentages to each member would be amazing. Our previous platform allowed us to do this, but Square does not. We switched to Square because of several other limitations with our previous system, but in this case they did it better.

Thank you! I appreciate it.

Also having this problem - this needs to be fixed or your system is useless to us

We also need this feature, the commission report is useless if it can’t be corrected.

I still have to manually enter everything on a spreadsheet each week to correct errors since I’ve got around 15 staff members- there’s usually at least always one mistake.

it takes forever to enter the spreadsheet and compare. If I could just go through each transaction and compare to the contract attached and appointment booking all digital, it would save a lot of time if there was a quick way to change who the sale was attributed to on the transaction ticket when I found errors rather than printing and keying every ticket on a spreadsheet to calculate the fix.
