Label Printing Formatting

Label Printing Formatting

I would love to print labels through Square, however the format is SO limited, with zero room for customization, that it forces me to use other 3rd party apps such as LabelLive for my shelf tags and labels.

Having dynamic placeholders for Textboxes + Images to automatically populate a shelf tag with your chosen queue or items (either scanned in or manually selected) would increase the productivity of the square for retail app by tenfold. I'm not paying extra just so I can print a barcode when the feature is so limited that it feels like it got the bare minimum of development dollars. Surprising for such a large corporation as Square.

Customize labels!! The Dashboard doesn't allow ANY room for edits, selecting specific spots on the template sheet for labels to start.. We use a basic printer and label sheets, so we either have to print an entire new sheet, so print on used sheet with available tags, and just deal with the ink on the used spaces.... Pretty silly, forces me to either buy a label printer (which don't offer custom features either by the sound of the other posts) or use 3rd party app or program to make my own barcode and tags, which by hand and without the inventory count is AWFUL.

Super Seller

please please please.. Square- this is a CRITICAL feature of retailers.

I am also joining the list. 🖐

We need to at least be able to adjust font size, information order etc. As said before, a fairly basic need for retail.

Thanks for a good product otherwise! 😊

Dymo 1.jpg

I have found that Dymo (I have a Dymo LabelWriter 450) has a good program called Dymo Connect, free to use, and works well for preparing then printing our labels. I save each in a folder, making it simple to find then print as many as we need. Over time I will have a lot of labels saved in there, so for example, we receive a number of red widgets, I pull up the file and print as many labels as I need.

Meanwhile, in our case, it's a lot easier to prepare a label that is configured how we want it then reuse it whenever needed. I name the label files with the SKU, making it easy to find and print.

Perhaps Square could have a link to something like this?

I am experiencing frustration with this as well. I am not able to select my own printer and the labels that I use do not stick to the products that I use this is why I went with a different label printer rather than the ones already selected in square. I did try the other label printers as suggested by square.  I am not tech savy, and I find, that moving between this platform and the other platform is becoming so frustrating. I wanted this to be a smooth seamless transition, but I am finding it very limiting and constricting. I am a small business owner and trying to get this POS and Inventory management super frustrating and time consuming.

YES! Customization of sku labels is an absolute necessaty if you know anything about retail. We are running into so many issues with the limited amount of words allowed on the labels. Even shopify, who's POS is total crap allows custom sku labels. Please fix this asap! It needs to include the ability to put our store name, remove the variable text (because things without variable all say Regular), and allow for 2 lines of the title. I know it is possible to fit, just not possible in this system.

PLEASE add the ability to customize our labels.  Even just font size or how many lines of name can show, etc.  We have many long item names that can't be read because the label only allows a couple words.  Logos, info, etc would be great too but not having enough room for item names is a big oversight.

Just commenting to make sure this thread stays visible. The ability to scan, change prices, print, and having a customized logo and formatting on the labels would reduce the need to faff with 3rd party apps and would make our inventory/stocking process so much easier.

Please add more label sizes and custom formatting.  I can't even resize the barcode. So it's large enough for this Scanner to read it. So I have to re type every single label in the dymo. Software. The only advantage to that is this allows me to put my custom logo on every ticket. But it is extremely time consuming to have to load every product into square and then reloaded into the dymo software to print my skus.  Our seasonal shop adds thousands of items every year. So as others have said square for retail, is not custom to retailers needs.

AND. .Why can't we print labels directly from the square stand?

We would love to see more options for labels- including the option to select other types of labels. We use Dymo and most of the sizes we use do not exist in Square.
