Purchase orders no longer show items that have not been assigned a vendor?

I used to be able to create a purchase order to add stock to my inventory for items that had not yet been assigned a specific vendor. When I would add an item to a purchase order it would then assign it to that vendor. 

Now I can only add items to purchase orders that have already been assigned the specific vendor. If I have recently added a new item, I now have to select the vendor beforehand on the create item screen for it to show up on the purchase order selection. 

The way the system worked before saved me a lot of time as I always have new items coming in, so adding the new item to the purchase order automatically assigned that specific vendor to the item. Now I have to do this on each item that does not already have a vendor assigned to it which seems like a step backwards and creates more work for me.

Just ran into this issue today. Very frustrated that I cant just add new items to a purchase order if they aren't tagged to that vendor. 

I hope Square sees this fast and goes back to the old way.
