On April 24 our music store, which sees about $15,000 square receipts a year, shows a million dollar payment to us. Square's virtual assistant could not understand the problem, though i am hopeful a human could spot the problem immediately. Nothing was transferred to us, probably because the transaction was bogus. Our practical concern is that Square will report this bogus payment to the IRS and all of next year an auditor will be sitting in our cramped office looking for what we did with that million dollars.
