Verizon Ellipsis 8 Device isn't compatible with this version of the POS app?

I just purchased a verizon ellipsis 8 which square says is compatible.  I'm using WIFI and trying to download the app but get an error saying my "device is not compatible with this version."  Do I need to be using the verizon network to download this?  Or do I need to update the ellipsis 8 first?  Thoughts?  Thank you.

Hey @PKR, is the operating system on the tablet running Android 8.0? 

There's a chance it came loaded with an older operating system, since the tablet was first released in 2016.
