Adding request deposit on appointment app!

Adding request deposit on appointment app!

Will square ever add the deposit feature that's on the invoice app on the appointment app? I'm not going to switch to another system, YET!, but it is mind-boggling because the other apps have it but the most important app of them all (us getting client bookings) doesn't support having clients pay a deposit upon booking their appointment -_-.

Thanks for writing in! @binkey93

Actually, the Deposit feature is available in the Appointments app. From the navigation menu, simply tap Invoices > Add an item/service > hit Add a payment schedule. You'll see the Deposit field there.

I use Square Appointments and I would like to require a deposit for high end services. I've used No Show Protection, but it did not effectively protect me because the customer just used a bogus card or a prepaid card with no money on it. So when I marked the appointment as a "No Show" the charge was declined. So the client never showed, it was too late to book someone else, and no 'No Show' fee.

It would be great if the client is able to pay the deposit at booking to actually protect the business (merchant) from 'No Show's to provide actual 'No Show' Protection.

Thanks @JustinC but I know that already. I’m saying to add it upon clients putting in information on the booking form. You allow us to have clients book but upon booking they do not get charged a deposit. Me sending an invoice is me manually having to get the deposit outside of the clients booking submission. I already operate that way but it would be convenient to just have us charge a deposit right upon booking an appointment. Most businesses are busy so having to do it manually can get pretty hectic when it could just easily be automatically set up. That’s what I’m seeing from most business owners that seems to be the only problem with square unlike other systems. Invoicing is fine but it’s a manual process. That’s not much of a struggle, but I would love an automatic process to charge clients a deposit right when they are typing in info trying to book an appointment.

We need $10, $20, $50 or even $150 deposits prepayment

It is way different than full prepayment

For example

My services cost to client around $120

I would like them to prepay $20 when they are booking

In the spa they will pay $100 + tips

I saw it on the wix.com and

https://acuityscheduling.com/#gref

But I do like square

If they made that and it is possible WHY square like a turtle already from 2016 cannot solve this issue

The problem with this option is that you have to select a customer for each service listed, if new customers are booking the website won't request a deposit for that.

I have been looking for a way to take a deposit for an appointment instead of charging the customer the full amount.  This is a payment processing site and the option has been given to instead of listing the price of the service to list the price of the deposit and require prepayment.  This is HIGHLY unacceptable for a payment processing site as it should be straightforward to customers when trying to book an appointment and they know what they are paying for, most are not going to read the details that they are paying the deposit.  I have seen multiple cumbersome work arounds since 2016 can we get a solution for 2021 that actually works?

UPDATE:  The frustrating part is an admin moved my thread to an 'existing one' but did not bother to offer a solution.

I have run into exactly the same issue as @dyniecia_ . Customers are sneaky and will use maxed out cards, visa gift cards with no balance, closed card accounts, etc. to book their appointments, and then when they late cancel or no show I cannot charge them. This sucks!!! I need to charge a booking deposit (NOT full prepayment) or at least preauthorize the card for the amount of the no-show fee so that the payment can be taken at a later date if needed. I'm getting screwed out of a good deal of income because the no-show protection is very flawed.

I also have been working on finding an alternative to this issue for months but nothing comes with ease. Having an option to choose between a deposit and a cancellation fee would be ideal. I purchase my product by the client so that deposit would be used to cover the cost. Clients know if they reschedule a few days prior then cancel their appointment, they bypass the cancellation fee. Then I just wasted my own money on product I won't be using. Having that deposit already in my hands makes me as a business owner feel secure; not the cancellation fee.

Also, if having a deposit option is possible, having the ability to allow the client to accept the appointment via text THEN be required to pay the deposit (that has been chosen by the business owner). As a hairstylist, our prices vary according to our clients needs. Our prices aren't concrete and typically takes a consultation to provide a proper estimate.

I have been using Square for years. I love everything about it except this one issue. Unfortunately, it is a big enough issue for my business to interest me to look elsewhere.

Square needs to get their "booking fee at the time of booking" situation working or we should all boycott square and take our business elsewhere. Its ridiculous that we have to do all this extra when it could be automated.

Hi I can figure it out how to do it, there is a video tutorial for these?
