Create access to the FULL 16 digit electronic gift card number

There is absolutely NO reason why the account administrator should not be able to access the full 16 digit electronic gift card number. It is essential to providing quick & accurate customer service - something I'm finding impossible to do on Square.

There are multiple inquiries regarding this feature that lead me to believe that this is a WIDE SPREAD problem with smaller vendors.

Also, under >gift card >overview, the search box needs options i.e. recipients name, purchasers name, date range of purchase, amount of purchase.

Hi there @DirtyApples and @mindfulmassage7 - Thanks for providing your feedback here. While I do understand that it is frustrating to not have this feature available, there is a reason behind it to protect your customers.

We generally don’t provide full Gift Card PAN reporting for security reasons unless the Square Seller is switching to another gift card provider and they still want to honor any gift cards that are still active through Square. We only provide the last 4 digits, just as we would for a customer's credit or debit card

If a customer needs to re-send an eGift Card to the recipient or edit the email address to send the eGift Card, you can always do this from your Square Dashboard by following the instructions listed in this Support Article.

I hope this information is helpful but please do let me know if you have any additional questions.

While I can understand why you would protect a credit or debit card it does not make any sense why a gift card that is sold by a merchant and can only be used at that merchant location cannot be accessed by THE MERCHANT.

Aside from that - this Support Article does not do anything to address clients who don't have their transaction information. What if the client received the gift card AS A GIFT from someone else and it was a while ago and they don't remember when they received it and since they were not the one to purchase they have no idea when it was purchased or how, etc.

In a perfect world, yes, the person standing there could tell us even about when the gift card was purchased but that's not reality. AND as many have stated - this makes the merchant look dumb and Square look dumb because we have a client expecting us to have access (since WE SOLD THEM THE CARD) and we do not.

A VERY LOGICAL FIX - would be to create a LINK with the last 4 digits of the card and let us use that to charge the gift card. While I still think we should have access to all 16 digits/PAN digits on the card or whatever you want to call it, I LITERALLY DON'T CARE ABOUT THE NUMBERS. I just want to be able to charge the gift card in our system, that I can currently STARE AT (or at least the last 4 digits) and do nothing with!!!

I have been shouting this from the rooftops.  👏🏻

This is out of control. How on earth is this protecting my customers? It is only inconveniencing them. If I sold the card, I should have access to it. This isn't an usual thing to be able to do. And seeing as this has been an issue brought to your attention for YEARS now, it looks really bad that Square doesn't look to their customer feedback for making improvements. Bad business Square.

I am selling my business and need to download several gift card reports using the filters under the Gift Cards tab. I cannot download any of this information. Scrolling down the page and highlighting, copying, and pasting into Excel is worthless because it puts everything in one cell. The information I need it not available under Reports.

How can I obtain this information in a useable spreadsheet?

It continues to baffle me that there seems to be an endless list of data that I need, that I can see on the screen, but I can't download. Square clearly understands that users need this information, but continuously fails to provide all tools necessary to use that information. Another example is pulling a full report on losses. I can see the full list on my screen of what was marked as a damage, theft, or loss under History, but I can't download it. Why? What's the point in me even choosing Damage, Theft, or Loss if I can't pull a report on it. These kind of limitations are so f'm stupid. The data is there. Just give it to me.

Is there any update on this issue? I can never get ahold of customer support. This is always a big problem around the holidays because no one actually follows directions. This makes the system and myself look incompetent to my clients. This needs a feature request.

Agree. Completely time consuming but I found a way to get the e-gift number.  I resend the e-gift to my company email and obtain the 16 digit number that way. Now we just need to figure out a way to obtain the plastic gift card numbers when they lose their card.
