Feature Request: BOGO (Buy one, get one) and other automatic discounts via my Square Online website

Feature Request: BOGO (Buy one, get one) and other automatic discounts via my Square Online website

The title of this post has been edited from the original:  Can automatic discounts be used on the online store?

When I create automatic discounts, such as quantity or amount discounts, they work perfectly well on my point of sale but do not work on my online store.

Can anyone help me?

Thank you!

Hello there!

I appreciate all your patience while we work to get this feature implemented. The beta testing for this feature has currently been delayed. Our team is working very hard on the backend to resolve some roadblocks that have prevented this from going. If you would still like to join the Beta for this request you can certainly still do so. I know this is incredibly hard but I appreciate you all for hanging in there! 🙏

Hi! We'll be launching a beta test for Automatic Discounts on Square Online in the next couple of weeks. Head over to Automatic Discounts for Square Online to join the Beta Community and request access to this beta test.

Re: Buy 1 Get 1 Free Coupon on Square Website

Currently, the Online Store doesn't support Buy-one-get-one coupons. However, you can assign standard discounts to certain categories. From the site editor,  visit Items > Coupons > Add Coupon. You'll find an option to choose eligible categories under Discount Details at the bottom of the page.

"Our Product Teams do have a road-map for future additions to our offering..."

Wow, just wow.

Without committing to a time line could you please at a minimum give us an indication, is online BOGO one of the 'thousands of feature requests each week' that your road map-less Product Team is even considering working on?

Sory 'bout the snark but, there is a pandemic and our POS has been shut down since spring and we're still waiting.

Hi @CovfefeCrafts - we do not have a timeline to share. Again, these feature launches include multiple phases of testing and tweaking. Providing a timeline would prove to be inaccurate and unhelpful here.

Again, we will continue to push out updates and news as we have them.

I just don't understand why the square for "in store" software is any different than for online.  Whether I choose to use POS or online, it should all be the same & it's not.  That's whats frustrating.  I have sale prices listed on my website for almost all of my items, but if I do use the square checkout option on my phone/tablet, those sale prices aren't shown so it's virtually impossible to remember what every price is to adjust it in the system. Problems like this are incredibly frustrating for online only sellers.

It would be reassuring to hear that this feature is at least being worked on, though.

I agree with simplyskate. We should not have to maintain list and sale prices in two places. The nimbleness of making code changes depends, of course, on how the code has been written and with Weebly an add-on and not part of the original Square code, I'm sure it's very complicated. But for this to be a viable retail product we need the following to happen: ALL pricing and discount structures need to sync up: List price, sale price AND discounts. At the very least we should be able to provide one discount code to online customers and all currently offered discounts (different percentages by any means, i.e. by item, by category, etc.) should be applied with that ONE code. Right now we have to set up a separate discount code for every discount we want to offer and within that we can't even combine individual items with categories. The preferable method would be what we are asking for in this thread: POS discounts to be synced with Online automatically, but at this point I'd settle for more flexibility in the discount codes. Is ANY of this being prioritized with the design team?

Yes, add BOGO to the online store. Or B2G1 in this case.

Hello! is there a way for me to do bogo for my ecomm website?

I just spent days setting up my online store with Square only to find that I can't offer the same discount online for curbside pickup that I offer in store. I have hundreds of items on sale by category in POS, and now my only option to offer the same deal for my customers with a safer curbside pickup option is to add a sale price to them one by one.

Why on Earth can't I at least use an Excel file to make edits to the online item library like I can in POS? This is needlessly difficult to the point I'll have to start looking into other POS systems as my business grows. So disappointing.

Small business owners are trying to keep ourselves and our customers safer by setting up curbside pickup. Please prioritize this and make it easier for us.

Hey @carra87🌠

Please take a look at the best answer in this thread. It should provide some insight on creating discounts.

I am actively looking for an alternate POS. Square is just too limiting.
