Feature Request: BOGO (Buy one, get one) and other automatic discounts via my Square Online website

The title of this post has been edited from the original:  Can automatic discounts be used on the online store?

When I create automatic discounts, such as quantity or amount discounts, they work perfectly well on my point of sale but do not work on my online store.

Can anyone help me?

Thank you!

Hello there!

I appreciate all your patience while we work to get this feature implemented. The beta testing for this feature has currently been delayed. Our team is working very hard on the backend to resolve some roadblocks that have prevented this from going. If you would still like to join the Beta for this request you can certainly still do so. I know this is incredibly hard but I appreciate you all for hanging in there! 🙏

Re: Buy 1 Get 1 Free Coupon on Square Website

Currently, the Online Store doesn't support Buy-one-get-one coupons. However, you can assign standard discounts to certain categories. From the site editor,  visit Items > Coupons > Add Coupon. You'll find an option to choose eligible categories under Discount Details at the bottom of the page.

@dalycusthreads I agree with you. I’m waiting on being able to offer my normal Buy Two Get One Free pricing to my customers. I can’t offer my normal pricing to customers, frustrating 😑

I just don't understand why the POS system & online systems have to be different! I will never use the POS system yet I can't turn that function off.

dalycusthreads,
I am just now starting to set up my store and don't really want to commit any more time here if this issue isn't going to move soon. I know how to Google, but, could you mention a couple of your favorite site builders that are already working for buy 2 get one free?

I'd rather not waste time if we can't get an ETA, this thread did start in March after all.

Adding another voice here. I sell at markets but everyone wants to buy online, but they feel ripped off that they can't get the same multi-item discount they do at the market when they order online. I am a new customer and I'm just gobsmacked that the POS and website are different systems or that they don't have the same features. Like this is really insane for a 2020 payment system. I was going to fork out for the tap machine but now I'm wondering if I should just completely switch to a different company who can keep up with the times.

I feel ya. My fingers have been crossed since March that they add automatic discounts to the online store soon.

Wix for sure has it!

So here is the thing.  I promised myself I would stay loyal to Square after all the help they gave us small businesses during Covid closures.  It is the functionality of the square version of the weebly site portion that is the issue.  I really do not want to leave so I hope they get what should be a simple fix resolved.

Thanks for the reply @isabelle . The online store coupons are not behaving the same as the Square app Discounts I have set up.

In the app, I have a $1 discount per item when then buy five or more. As I add the items to the app checkout, when it gets to give, the discount is automatically applied. I want this same behaviour in the online store.

Using the the Online store Coupons as you have directed me to, the customer would have to know a Coupon code and enter it at checkout? I simply want the price to change when the buy a certain number of items - just like it does in the app.

Okay, I think I found my answer here:

Q: Can I use automatic discounts in the online store?

A: Not at this time. Discounts will continue to be available as promo codes in the online store and will not apply automatically based on discount rules.

Well, that sucks and doesn't make for a good customer or user experience if my online customers have to take it upon themselves to complete the action of entering a "coupon" which doesn't allow me to add a rule that they have to add "x" number of items to their cart before the "discount/coupon/pick-a-name" will even work the way I want it to.

I tried following the link below but after setting my discount up, I am not seeing the discounts in my online order.
