Ability to edit staff after a transaction is finished

My staff sometimes check out our clients under the wrong waxer. It’s not always feasible to refund and recharge transactions. Please make the finalized transactions editable on our end so that our staff get their commission even when mistakes are made.

Hello, @WEwax

Thank you for bringing this to our attention. We understand the importance of having the ability to edit staff information after a transaction is completed, especially when errors occur during the checkout process. To be clear, are you currently using Square Appointments? Would it help if you had the ability to edit the technician rather than the transaction?

We appreciate your input as we strive to enhance our services. We will be on the lookout for your reply.

We have both retail and appointments, but checking clients out is done through appointments. The issue we have is when checking out an appointment (sometimes with retail added), it will switch any add-on services done that day or retail purchase at the end of service to the front desk worker checking the client out or sometimes to a random employee. So, the commission assignments are always off. Another issue is if a client buys retail on our website, it doesn’t associate the sale to an employee(which is not a problem), but when we audit tickets at the end of the day, we are unable to give credit to the employee that is responsible for the sale.

We have been in business for over 20 years and have used several different POS and scheduling systems throughout this time. These mistakes have always happened with checkout, but I HAVE NEVER HAD AN ISSUE WITH EDITING employees after a ticket has been closed. Even if done at the end of the week and not on a day of sale. Before Square, my staff watched their sales closely for benchmarks and goals. Since moving to Square, my office staff has had to send these numbers individually daily after audit and totaling in another program. This is not something that should have to be done. If an employee wants to go and look at what they did the same day last year, or last week, etc., they have to request a report from the office manager.

My office manager has to export the sales report daily, go line by line, and audit in our spreadsheets, which are unavailable to our staff. We had to turn the reports off for them to see their numbers and sales, especially if they perceived that their sales were higher than they should be because a service or product was sold under their name. This is often not caught until the audit, and calling clients to notify them of a return and repurchase is just bad business and time-consuming.

When switching to Square, this was not even a question I would have asked if the capabilities were there because I have never had an issue with any other software. This capability wasn’t found until we launched and tried to audit the first few days of tickets. I would not have switched to a system with all the necessary capabilities, but I can’t use the built-in functions because none of the reports are accurate.

I post a new request at least once a week or on the MANY threads with pages of requests for this dating back years. With no response or resolution. The workaround makes every report in your system obsolete.

For our business, it would be beneficial to edit the employee more than the entire transaction, but the option to do both would be nice.

In Square Point of Sale we have the same issue, sometimes one employee leave their "tab" open and another employee use their account to close a ticket, and we can't change that. This is bad specially when they are from different shifts and the tip goes to the other person. Like the other user just said, this is the only software that I have worked that does not allow that. So it's doable.

@sayra, when will this essential function be applied? This is so ridiculous
