Re: Need to import/export item images within the Item Library - Status changed to: Not currently planned

Hey there, @dpowell7299 & @JTPets

I have merged the older posts to your Feature Request, so our Product Team can see how long our sellers have been requesting this particular feature.

Currently, this isn't on the roadmap to get implemented. Doesn't mean it cannot get on there in the future.

When we get more information, we can circle back to update the status.

Thank you!

It's been 2 years, has this been fixed. I have almost 2000 items in my catalog.

We have been entering these FREAKING feature requests for at least 2 years now and not a peep from you guys as to even IF you would do it.

Re: How to import/export item images within the Item Library?

I definitely get how you feel @IndyRick. For context, most of the features that exist in Square were made possible thanks to feedback from Sellers like you.

It was never Square's intention to make you feel like your data is kept away from you. However, submitting a feature request puts this need front and center of our Product Team.

Thank you for your understanding and I hope you have a great day.

Sorry, I can't wait on your development timing. I am developing (PHP &MySQL) my own display application that will make use of what data you do deign to provide right now. A business case shouldn't be required for data access. FREE MY DATA.

Re: How to import/export item images within the Item Library?

Thank you for taking the time to share your interest in this feature @alhstudio2021 At this time, exporting pictures isn't something that our team has planned. However, I recommend you submit a Feature Request here. This will help our product team get visibility and track other Sellers with similar interest in your request.

Important: When submitting a request, make sure to include the desired feature, and provide the details of how this feature would help your business succeed (how would you use it and what you expect from it).

How to import/export item images within the Item Library?

[The title of this thread has been edited from the original: How to export items images together with the library to excel?]

I am trying to export my items library to my laptop excel. For some reasons the items images are not exported. Can anyone please tell me how do I do so? Thank you.

I order items for my shop online, and when they come in SQUARE automatically adds them to my inventory list.

I have a website, on squarespace, that has a shop, and I have a few items that I entered by hand.

I figured out a work around for importing products, but ALL of the items import WITHOUT the photos of the products.

How can I get the product list exported to include the products with photos? I've looked all around, and it appears as though I can only get halfway there with weebly or shopify? ugh. help!

Hi @bluecollarastor-

Thanks for posting in the Seller Community!

Take a look at my best answer in this thread. As of right now, there isn't a way to import or export images from the Item Library. It sounds like this is something you can do on the Shopify end.

I'll be sure to post an update on this feature (on Square's end), whenever I have one. Thanks for your patience.

I hope you add that feature very quickly.  It is a necessity.  I have 9,000 diesel truck parts

in my store.  It would take weeks to add them manually.

I am trying to determine if Square is any better than WooCommerce and this inability to even import/export a URL that points to a product image is a deal breaker.

We are a used bookstore with over 15,000 books. There is no way we can manually add pictures to every one of these.

Why is this so complicated?  It does not have to be the ACTUAL image, just a URL to it with an import function that allows us to load the image and get the URL.

Or just an additional image field that is a URL link to the image.

Hi there, @dpowell7299 - thanks for taking the time to reach out to us here on the Seller Community! Happy to have you join us, and thanks for asking your question.

As of now, the ability import/export specific images (or image URL's) by way of CSV or Excel file is not offered through Square and is considered a feature request. I have flagged your post over to our Product Teams so we can keep tabs of what our Sellers are asking for on this thread. Should any update come down the pipeline in regards to this feature, we will update this thread accordingly.

Thanks, again!

That is fine but it has been a feature request for many years. Will it ever be on the NEAR horizon or do we need to evaluate other options that allow for photos.

i can’t speak for others but running a bookstore, those images are critical to my success.

i don’t mind if it is a separate import/export (like the image name is the token ID) but there has to be some method of importing (and hopefully exporting) those images because at close to 200K titles in stock, this is not just adding a picture of a hamburger.

Thanks for the prompt reply, @dpowell7299 - and for giving some insight into your business circumstances that would make this feature so helpful. We field thousands of feature requests each week here on the Seller Community, and bringing these features to fruition often takes an ample amount of time and effort from our engineers. We want to ensure that our releases are not just surface level products, but the best all-around resources to help you grow your business.

Again - no specific timeline available for me to share just yet, but we hope to be able to bounce back here with a positive update soon.

I appreciate the fast reply. Although, with humans being visual creatures, I can not imagine a request more important and more critical than the importing of images.  At the very least the ability to import an image URL that could be displayed.

Are there really that many other deficiencies in the product that are more important?

Square Community Moderator

@dpowell7299  - we understand that this feature may be important to your business, and we try to act on feature requests that will impact a wide breadth of our Sellers. Our Engineers and Product Teams actively work on a multitude of requests ranging from vital issues such as account security, to aesthetic changes like item images importing.

Again, while we don't have specific timelines or a priority document to share, we are always looking to improve our services. Your requests go a long way to improving our product.

Have a great day!

I was going to let this go except you said "my business" This is NOT just my business. It has been requested for OVER 3 years now from numerous other businesses.  Plus in what business are images not preferred?

I understand you probably have to reply to every post so when you reply, kindly tell me ANY business that would not routinely use images for selling their products.

Thanks.
