bulk discounts with parameters

We are having issues with our bulk discount buttons. As there are no parameters on what the discounts can apply to, it has been difficult to consistently have staff individually remove discounts on non-eligible items (which is time consuming on busy days) when using the bulk discount buttons, thus costing us a loss of income. I have contacted Square several times over the past few years and the customer support team suggested I put it here so it will hopefully be seen by an engineer as well... We can't use the "automatic discounts" to add parameters because we have variable types of discounts in our store (but discounts can ONLY be given to ONE category). Have been requesting parameters put on the discount button to include only the items that are eligible... Anyone have any luck with this?
