Double charges on customer statements happening frequently

Customers are notifying us more frequently of double charges showing on their statements (credit or debit) - either in person or through Disputes.

 

In each case, we only have one transaction and these are simple transactions (no voids, double swipes or "dips", etc.) with chipped cards. Server runs the chipped card and comes back to enter tip.

 

Then a few days later, we hear of a double charge from a customer.

 

Anyone having the same issue - is Square having an issue with doubling charging?

Typically (99.99%) one is a temporary hold or check of available credit and the other is the charge.  Temp charges can fall off of a customer's online transactions in 1-7 days.  In the over 100,000 transactions we've had thru Square we have never seen a double charge that was created.  This is especially true for tickets with tip settlements.  Most places I've been have sign's at the gas pump or cash register at a restaurant explaining cc temp charges.
