Feature Request: BOGO (Buy one, get one) and other automatic discounts via my Square Online website

The title of this post has been edited from the original:  Can automatic discounts be used on the online store?

When I create automatic discounts, such as quantity or amount discounts, they work perfectly well on my point of sale but do not work on my online store.

Can anyone help me?

Hello there!

I appreciate all your patience while we work to get this feature implemented. The beta testing for this feature has currently been delayed. Our team is working very hard on the backend to resolve some roadblocks that have prevented this from going. If you would still like to join the Beta for this request you can certainly still do so. I know this is incredibly hard but I appreciate you all for hanging in there! 🙏

Hi! We'll be launching a beta test for Automatic Discounts on Square Online in the next couple of weeks. Head over to Automatic Discounts for Square Online to join the Beta Community and request access to this beta test.

Currently, the Online Store doesn't support Buy-one-get-one coupons. However, you can assign standard discounts to certain categories. From the site editor,  visit Items > Coupons > Add Coupon. You'll find an option to choose eligible categories under Discount Details at the bottom of the page.

I've been on this thread for years. Every so often they come in to say anytime now... Then we wait again, not moving to another platform that cares about our needs.

I see this feature has been discussed for over two years now, is there a chance for an update any time soon? We are trying to do more online business  would love to reward our customers with a BOGO discount. Not having this feature makes it really hard to have consistency across the business since its only available in person.

Just had a longish chat with support and I fear this functionality may never happen!  Personally I have no alternative but to move to another platform, probably Shopify 😔

As a business holding out on this platform in need of automatic discounts for square online - I feel that 29 months since a user first asked for this function would be plenty long enough!?  It clearly isn't something Square care about implementing!

@TSCS that is so disappointing! We may have to move as well.  Something that clearly is such a huge issue for many should definitely be a priority.

@medicinalmamas Agree, very disappointing. You'd think that an existing function of the Square POS system would be made available for someone expanding to Square online wouldn't you.

I think Square has dropped a bollock here, seeing even one customer leave all services just because they couldn't expand their same POS functions 'online' seems madness... 🤷🏻‍

24 pages of people wanting a change would be enough for my business to take our head out our arse..!

Shopify, WooCommerce, Squarespace, Wix, BigCommerce, Magneto, Amazon, eBay and nearly every other e-commerce platform offer automatically applied discounts don't they!?

Yep, I've been asking for this for YEARS!  Lack of this feature has cost me so many online sales, it's nuts. Plenty of other platforms wanting my business...

Does BOGO discount not work on the website? I set it up last eek but customers have noticed its not available. I now see it on my POS only. Why is that? I see previous threads about this issue but that was 2 years ago and I am hoping updates have been made by now.

@SyrenitySkin Nope. BOGOF and automatic discounts are not available in online stores. It’s a joke. They said recently it’s ‘being worked on’ but it’s too little too late at this point. It’s why I’m leaving. That, and their **bleep**ty Support.

Dear Square:  Please make it easy for me to throw more money at you.  At the moment, the ONLY reason why I have not expanded to use your payroll services, online services, etc. is because the discounts on the POS do not match the online discounts.  

When I first signed up for Square more than a year ago, I was told they would be synced by end of year.  Then I was told, "It is a feature request, but we are not actively working on it."  A few months ago, it was "Being worked on", with no anticipated date of release.

When, oh when, can we expect this to actually roll out?
